Windows or Linux?
#21
tahu13 Wrote:windows definatly, linux is nice becouse very few viruses, but windows has better features, more drivers n such

Linux acutally has LOTS of drivers its just that for brand new devices it can take a month or so before drivers come out. So unless you buy every new piece of technology as soon as it comes out Linux really is not all that bad.

my printer, scanner, and monitor were all made before 2001 and yet when i tried lenux like a year ago it couldnt find the drivers for them
#23
Did you go look for them on the net? Sometimes all the drivers available are not pre-installed on the distro. Also your monitor drivers? I have never gotten drivers with any of my monitors. What kind of monitor do you have that it REQUIRES drivers?

well i shouldnt say drivers, but my monitor came with software you have to install for it to work correctly when i use windows i dont need to install it, but when i use linux i do. if i dont then its always in 256 colors and very high resolution

i had a cd for my scanner, but my printers cd i lost long ago so i was sol on that, i went to the website looking for them i did some updates n stuff but it said there was no need to update your drivers

You know when your in the GUI you can hold ctrl and hit +/- and it should adjust the resolution for you.

no you could set it to realy low but it still wouldent work right, i mean the resolution was so high that when it was at its lowest the icons would still be tiny

yea, Linux is for technical know how peeps. if you aren't comfortable in a console, don't use linux. heh reminds me of this time back when my monitor was crap. XWin couldn't recognize it so I had to work straight to the tty heh. man I learned a lot in that period of time.
