Did you go look for them on the net? Sometimes all the drivers available are not pre-installed on the distro. Also your monitor drivers? I have never gotten drivers with any of my monitors. What kind of monitor do you have that it REQUIRES drivers?

well i shouldnt say drivers, but my monitor came with software you have to install for it to work correctly when i use windows i dont need to install it, but when i use linux i do. if i dont then its always in 256 colors and very high resolution
i had a cd for my scanner, but my printers cd i lost long ago so i was sol on that, i went to the website looking for them i did some updates n stuff but it said there was no need to update your drivers

You know when your in the GUI you can hold ctrl and hit +/- and it should adjust the resolution for you.

yea, Linux is for technical know how peeps. if you aren't comfortable in a console, don't use linux. heh reminds me of this time back when my monitor was crap. XWin couldn't recognize it so I had to work straight to the tty heh. man I learned a lot in that period of time.
