LCDs are great now! LCD's all the way for me. They give CRT's some competition now.

CRT or LCD Displays?

I'll go with CRT's. With the bulk and degaussing aside, they always deliver great graphical performance. Plus, pixels don't die leaving ugly blue marks on the screen. Also, they make great holders of stickynotes due to the static cling. Heh heh.

I have 3 LCD's, a 17" and two 19"s. CRT's wouldn't fit on my desk.

LCD's are fine if you have $700 to burn on a good size one that wont leave ghosts or shadows. Personally I would rather have a nice Plasma TV/Computer screen. With all this wonderfull wireless tech floating around I could work from bed, record live tv onto my Tivo burn it onto my dual layer +/- dvd burner and watch TV. It would be heaven.

I've got a CRT and it works great. I've never had the chance to use a LCD for a long period of time, but I know they're a lot better on power.

For a rather good sum of money you can aquire an LCD that will, at the least, match the performance of most if not all CRT's currently on the market. Remember most of the research is in bettering LCD's and Plasma's not in improving CRT's.

I don't really care about the monitor. Aslong as it's 17"+, I'm fine. Plus, I'd rather spend $700.00 on a video card then a monitor.

As of right now, plasma is the best in my opinion. However, since we all aren't rich enough to have one, (this including me) I say LCD's. I have a 17" LCD proview that works amazingly for games. I don't even have a newer video card, it's 2 years old. Still, my monitor looks crystal clear on games and video or anything for that matter. Only problem with an LCD is that in the right light at certain angles the picture sucks....but as far as sitting behind my desk looking straight at the screen, it's awesome. My school has all flatscreen CRT's and they look good, but after using them for countless hours recenlty during my time as a programmer, I can see a difference in the clearity in the screens. Even under normal operating conditions. Just my opinions tho...

17" LCD for most, but when I need the real estate, I switch to my 21" CRT...

Splinter, you said you can see a difference in clearity. You never stated which one you thought was clearer. I'm assuming your opinion is LCD's are clearer.
My friends say that my CRT is clearer than their LCD, so, I'm happy.
