Windows 6.0 problems

I recently upgraded my PC to Windows XP Pro, and I just noticed I can't access a word file. When I try to open it, it says - "Can not load Word for Windows 6.0 files."

Can anyone help me here? I'm trying to sell some cd keys and I can't open the file where I wrote them... lol

you need to save the file as .rtf instead of word 6.0 file. that should solve your problems. Microsoft didnt make XP compatiable with word 6.0 for some god forsaken reason.

How can I save it as a rich text file if I can't even open it? I can right click it and go into properties, but that only allows me to open it with another program. And no, notepad doesn't work either.

hmm I dont have any word 6.0 files so I dont know if OpenOffice will work or not. Beyond that all I know is that they made XP and word 6.0 incompatiable unless saved as an .rtf.
