Sure it's not ethical, but it raises issues about the Government getting more and more into people's personal lives, along with right-to-die.

You know what I think about all this? Why the **** do so many people actually GIVE half a shit? You don't know the ***** and you never will. **** humanity, it's all going to hell anyway. **** it all, we all need to die some day, some people just have worse deaths than others.

unfortunately, people give a shit because they feel that for some reason, it is their duty to tell others how to live their life
in this case, people gave a shit because one side felt that it was murder resulting from the husband's adultery while the other side felt that it was her right to die to end her suffering
hopefully, my summary is as unbiased as it can be

It's a simple explanation. You won't get flamed for it dacougar. As for Mathacker...taxpayers money?!?!?! Are you F***ing insane? Or just that stupid?! No taxpayer was keeping her alive. It was her husband that did the paying you fool. And her parents who wished to take over the expenses.
This whole situation is unfortunate and what is even worse is that there is such a large divide on the issue. I have heard people such as Sinner say this issue is not political. However they are all wrong. This is a political split for the most part. And it's more because of the great hate that Republicans and Democrats share for each other at the time. Kinda like Yankee and Red Sox Fans...

people never would have even noticed terri if it werent for the parents. I agree that there should have been a more humane way to end her life the starving even if she couldnt feel it, have some dignity.tax payers did pay for her medicals b/c the money that was awarded to her husband ran out. but saying he did nothing for her is also wrong... he did many things for her, like getting her brain stimulated hoping that it will get her brain started again, he had constantly taken care of her. but i agree that he is only had her "killed" because he didnt want to go through divorce

I don't find that anyone with no possible way to contribute to the society, economy, world (meaning if you're doomed to a hospital bed and wires for the rest of your natural life, or you're severely retarded and can't do anything for themself) deserves to have their life prolonged. It's quite heartless, but really, what is the use of someone that doesn't even have complete thought processes? How can anyone possibly gain from them using up precious resources and nurse's/doctor's/anyone's time if they will never go on and do anything to repay any of the debt they have caused by being completely useless. It's a very non-Christian point of view, but, in my opinion, going by any religious views on this sort of thing takes away from something better happening.
