How can i Level my Mercenary?

hey, i was just wondering if there's a fast way to level up my mercenary! I'm level 30 and my act II combat merc is only level 18. I tried playing were i sit back and let him attack everything, i just feed him potions. It took so long to do it though! Then whenever i go in and attack, i forget about him and he dies cause no potions on him. So, is there a good way to level mercs.

best way is to get him a shaft/gaze/life leech weapon, i do hell pit runs, and my merc gains 2 lvls a run, and he will until he reaches my level

sorry, im sorta newb, what's a pit run? the Pit Lords?? Thanks though, i should prolly do some flayer runs, get him a little higher, then do CS. right now he's 18, he'd get wasted.

Well, at the level he's at let him die until your about level 50 and can solo Normal Baal and let your merc do the work.

u do know ur merc gets exp for wat u kill too? u can kill monsters for him and he will still get exp.

I thought the amount of XP he recieved was very small though. Oh well, i don't know. I usually don't pay attention to him, and a few minutes later i realize he's dead. Merc's are fun though, and they can be a big help!

the exp they get is small, but ur gonna kill a lot faster than he will and u can kill harder monsters for more exp

Been there, done that, don't do it. There is no fast way until your merc reaches level 25. The time it takes you to level the merc to your level will feel like twice the time it took you to get to level 30. Finish norm with the help of an Act 3 or an Act 5 mercernary and get a merc from Act 2 nightmare.

If you really want to level the norm merc, take the merc to where you would go to level if you're at the merc's level. Give the merc life leech and good equipment. If you're going to level a norm merc, pick the defensive one. He's the only one worth keeping.
