Ive heard that when you place mf equipment on mercenairies, youre total mf will go up. Is it true?? if so, woot niceness thats good way to get uber mf!!

Well, they're characters like anyone else. It doesn't boost your MF, but when they kill something, there's a higher chance that that monster drops something better. So if your merc has no trouble killing, and you want to give him a better chance to get better items, slap on a ptopazed shako, a ptopazed up'd skullders, and a weapon with MF.

Mercs and minions get your mf bonus + additional mf from their own equipment. So if you have 100mf% and your merc is wearing shako your mercs total mf% is 150%

it's upgrading the base of the armor. Like, turning a hand axe into a hatchet, or a naga into a berzerker axe, and you can find all of the recipes (done in the horadric cube) at http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items and then look in the cube section.

I always thought that upping an item was when a item comes down from the ladder season, so I was wrong the whole time I was arguing with my friend!??!?!?!
