avenger or conviction/zealer??

so i'm thinking about make an avenger or a conviction zealer (obviously )

Avengers:

1) do i really have to pump stat points into energy? i could just have some mana leech or a good amount mana potions. + there's always redemption.

2) would a 6 socket shael phase blade be better than a baraner's star? i mean you'd be pumping out hits as quick as a zealer (almost). + every hit would connect.

3) how good are avengers really? i've never ran across one. do they farewell in PvM & PvP? seems your damage alone would allow you to own almost any melee in 1 hit.

Conviction Zealer:

you need a weapon that gives good elemental damage to be effective. Take a look at the glimmmershred flying axe. Its quite fast, has nutty elemental damage and cant break. It is a lot slower than a baranas but it depends on what you intend to wear. Good ias gloves might be an ideal choice.
