I'd just like to thank Slut for all of this, great help :-D I'd rep if I could.

To be clearer-

Make a gradient. Or just a line. whatever you want to go back and forth. Then copy it. Paste it in a new layer JUST above the layer you want it to scan on. Then open it in ImageReady. Make three frames- first frame, the line is on the left or top, second frame it's on the bottom, and third it's back on top. Then tween the first to second, and second to third. Voila. Look at Yoda's sig, or Slut's or A|fzZz' or Hurly's to see what the anim is.
