sinner, i think what your trying to say is to hell with affirmative action. i agree totally. I just did a class paper on how it needs to be abolished. unless your american, then you probably have no idea what i'm talking about.

sinner, i agree with you that with affirmative action, many less qualified minorities may be chosen over more qualified white people but however, i feel that in some ways, this levels the playing field because white people tend to have more "old boy" connections where friends of parents can get their children jobs. minorities tend to have less college connections than whites because they rarely were able to afford to go to college or were discriminated against. generally, white people have a better life than minorities

however, i also feel that affirmative action is hypocritical. it attempts to help minorities against discrimination but at the same time it polarize our country into white and colored. instead of helping colored people, change the way of thinking in america. there will be no more discrimination when we stop believing in the importance of physical appearance

Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to get a scholarship if your white? Now I'm not saying I "needed" one but if I can save my parents money I will. So I went scholarship searching when I went college hunting and I found probably 10x as many scholarships for minorities than I did for white people. Hell I could have gone to college and MADE MONEY doing it if I was either black, hispanic or native american with all the scholarships I found. So the problem is NOT money because plenty of people are just giving money away the problem is intiative. I think that alot of minorities just are NOT taking any intiative when it comes to looking for money to go to college. So they sit around taking $10/hour jobs for the rest of their lives then end up on social programs when they have kids. THEN they go on and blame this "white world" where only the "white man" can achieve because the "white man" is keep them down etc etc. So then the goverment bends over and makes more laws that effectively make the lives of white people harder and the lives of minorities easier when in reality the money and opportunity was there already just no one was taking it.

On the "issue" of old boy connections I can tell you straight up that the people with those connections also have old deep pockets to boot. I can tell you right now that my parents and/or extended family played no part other than paying for application fee's in my getting into college. Also the number of people who get jobs becaus of family connections are alot less than the number of jobs given to less qualified minorites.

In the end I'm all for the complete abolishment of all social programs and laws that are, or were, drawn up with the intent to make it easier for minorites to get jobs and/or education. Hell while we're at lets just ditch ALL social programs and let Darwinism run its course.

I agree with Sinner. Just because white people ****ed up a long while ago, doesn't mean the following generations of white people have to pay for it by giving things up to minorities. If I get higher marks on a test over the next person, regardless of race, I should be given whatever is offered because of it. If I get a lower mark, congratulations to the recipient. No reason to be spiteful. I lost, we're people. Skin color had nothing to do with it.
But it does.
Am I screwed because I was born White? In the eyes of climbing better ladders because I was better than someone else; probably.

You can't stir up controversy if you've got a widely accepted idea, maybe you were expecting some white people to say 'Hell no, I think that there should be restrictions placed on people because of their skin color and people that aren't white should be given all sorts of scholarships'..
