ladder...nonladder....whats the dif?

??? just started playing, whats the difference? people say they cant rush me sometimes b/c im ladder....

ladder just came out with the new patch and is basicaly for competeing and nonladder is everything b4 the 1.10 patch and anyone who doesnt want to do ladder

heres a nice guide:

singleplayer: by yourself
tcp/ip: like 1player with an internet access
open: where all the hacks are
closed: like open, but only few hacks and much faster
ladder: hackfree (cept maybe maphack) better items; harder monsters

ladder characters cant join games with closed characters and vice versa. its the same with closed characters and open characters.

nice multiple posts :p . anyways, a ladder char remains in the ladder, until the ladder season is over. at that point, that ladder character will become a regular non-ladder character, and then after that a new ladder season starts. there are certain unique elites that are in ladder, as well as some cube recipes. as Linkmorpher said, it is also for competing and staying up on the ladder board, with the ultimate quest of becoming a ladder 99. i think there are currently 3 99 ladders on us-east regular ladder, and 2 98's on the us-east hc ladder. some modifiers on the stuff on the ladder are things that are truly unique to ladder, for example on the ladder-only unique ring Natures Peace (something like that), there is a modifier that says "All slain monsters rest in peace", which makes it so ressurectable monsters cannot be ressurected. i guess that has a downside, as some characters depend on corpses, like necros for their minions, pallys for life & mana or something liek that, barbs for "horking"(find item,find potion), druids for their vines, and mayb other chars i 4get. single player has all of the same added things as ladder, which is a major plus for people who do a lot of SP.
