Introduction to the Povazon

INTRODUCTION TO THE POVAZON
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

As my stay here in this wonderful forum is short, here is a simple contribution to the community here that hopefully will help you and your playing taste evolve and change, to play something more exotic.

Also, originally, it was MadCowBoy who told me this idea. I just wrote this guide to further expand his idea. Though it is not common, it is not uncommon. Smile

This is a guide written for the people who love indifference, those who hugs refinement, and those who worship power.

(^_^)

Now, let's get down to business, I'm going to present you with a refined version of my older guide.

I present you with the Povazon.

Now, the question is, one might be asking, what kind of name is the Povazon? How is it derived from? Simply put, it i the combination of 2 words, and that is Poison and Amazon. Well, it would not sound as nice if it was Poivazon, or Amason, or whatever you can think of. Therefore, I chose Povazon as a nice name for the guide.

Okay, seriously, that was just some apetizers to get us started. They were jokes. (^_^)

Before we start, I would like to stress that the guide and the character itself was made using offline-available items. Therefore, equipment wise, things might change for online players.

++++++++++++++++++++
INTRODUCTION
++++++++++++++++++++

The Povazon is a build that specializes in dealing poison damage, in a short duration of time. And if i forsee it correctly, this build is probably the Queen of all other poison classes out there, as it will give you a good sense of safety and still a good deal of damage. The Povazon uses 2 skill as her main attack, the Plague Javelin with the Poison Javelin to do damage in the masses. One might ask, why bother playing a Poison Character? Well, the same reason why you play Diablo at all, because you fancy itSmile

Let's see, a suitable metaphor would be,
"A mile long spear"

++++++++++++++++++++

Okay, i'll break the guide down into a few very basic parts, things that you can find in almost alot of guides here. we'll have the Stat Distribution, Equipment Selection, Leveling Tips, Mercenary Choice, Extras, Photos Bonanza.

Like I said, it's a pretty basic guide.

++++++++++++++++++++
STAT GROWTH
++++++++++++++++++++

Strength: 130,and for those who have a perfect Annihilus, 110. You do the match if you Annihilus differs from the mark.

Dexterity
: 150- 175. The value here is your choice, you do not really need a high attack rating, as the poison will hit as long as they walk into the clouds. It's really just for the block rate.

Vitality: Everything else here.

Energy: None, chill.

++++++++++++++++++++
SKILL SELECTION
++++++++++++++++++++

Now, in short, after some tests and replays, I found that Valkyrie complete stinks. Besides having alot of life, her AI just deems her useless. Your mercenary seems to be the much preferred choice. Alright, now that's settled, let's move on, this is the current skill distribution.

20 Poison Javelin
1 Lightning Bolt
20 Plague Javelin
1 Critical Strike
1 Penetrate
1 Pierce
1 Dodge
1 Avoid
1 Evade

Used skills points=47.
Spare= 110-47
= 63

Okay, clearly, you have quite alot of spare to choose from, and this can diversify greatly. Here are a few options of using your skill points.

a) Place them into the Bow Tree, either getting Fire, Ice or Guided Arrows. Guided Arrows work well with the low attack rating as they always hit. Elemental Arrow has its benefts because of the immunity of poison, should you come along it.

b) Place them into the Lightning Javeling section, mastering what you can with the remaining skill points. You should either get Lightning Fury, and anotehr of the synergy coupled with increasing the Passive section.

c) Placing them all into the passive section, how you distribute however, is up to your needs.

Take note that any of these methods are not wrong, it all depends on what weapons you have, what armour you have, basically, it all depends on your equipment. If you have a Windforce or some good bow on switch, obviously going for the Bow tree is good.

++++++++++++++++++++
EQUIPMENT SELECTION
++++++++++++++++++++

Now, this first set of equipment selection is based for rich people, i'll post something for the poor people later.

Main Weapon:Ethereal Titans' Revenge. Self explanatory.

Emergency Weapon : A good wand with preferably the highest available Lower Resist Charges, you just have to break the immunes and they are dead.

Shield: I'm still Contemplating on this, currently, I'm thinking on a StormShield Monarch socketted with a Poison Facet. I might change this. Good change subject is Spirit, because most of the time, you'll be far off, away from danger, however, 35% damage reduction is just too hard to pass off.

Armour: Bramble with a 50% increase, or as high as you can get it to. 45% and above is usually good enough.

Helmet: Valkyrie Winged Helm socketted with a Poison Facet

Amulet: Mara's Kadeiloscope

Ring 1: Bul Kathos

Ring 2*: Stone of Jordan

Belt: Arachnid Mesh, or any other belts that you prefer with +1 to all skills.

Boots: For now, nothing is of any real value, but I'm placing my points in War Travellers because of the mods. Dont worry, surprisingly, you won't need the strength mod here to wear the monarch. If you prefer, try to get resist boots. Decent ones. I'm not sure if boots add to skills because I've found a rare gauntlet that added +2 to javelin skills.

Gloves: Trang-Oul's gloves. Normal among many Povazons. For the Elites, I'd suggest gloves that adds +3 to your Javelin Skills coupled with 20%increased attack speed. The damage boost is roughly...7k-10k. The duration is a mere 1 second.

Now, here is an important note, you are not looking for Leeching items, as your base damage is really small, and it does not deal much. If you really want leeching stuff, i'd suggest using getting those that says..+X life/mana after each kill.

++++++++++++++++++++
INVENTORY
++++++++++++++++++++

The recipe of Success=

8-9 Grand Charms that adds to Javelin Skills, preferably with additional mods, such as life. It'll help[Image: smile8yf.gif]
7-8 small charms that gives resistance and preferably life. This is good.
1 Annihilus Charm, only if you have it. If you do, Wow.
1 Tome of Town Portal Scrolls
1 Tome of Identify Scrolls

++++++++++++++++++++
MERCENARY
++++++++++++++++++++

Now, I've been contemplating on this, and I guess there really ain't that much to choose from, and I say to go with Nightmare Mercenaries. Which, is a different question.

I was thinking about the Holy Freeze Mercenary
or the Mercenary with Prayer, not sure if that exists. I'm too lazy to check. Tongue

If you want the Prayer Mercenary, which I think is decent, I'd suggest giving him the Doom Runeword for the Holy Freeze, that way, you are pretty much as defensive as you are offensive.

The mercenary is really a choice made by you, and this varies with what and how rich you are.[Image: smile8yf.gif] If you can, go for those with Doom Runewords and the Might Aura.

For the average society, I guess, let's go with the Holy Freeze.

++++++++++++++++++++
EXTRAS
++++++++++++++++++++

Okay, this part is really just my random ramblings about the game.

Now, for this build, it's really built for PvM, but if you ask me, It usually fares pretty well for player versus player, you are going to use your lightning bolt javelin for that last bit. Some might even choose to remove some points in the passive skill tree and use it in Guided arrows. Your call.

As for the equipments, naturally , you will want to get them as close to perfect stats as possible, so do it. This large affects all poison builds out there. This is not an exception. Bramble being perfect is most important here.

Also, just a reminder, the Skill Tree for the Passive Section should be changed to suit your taste and playing style, the skill list mentioned above is just a rough sketch. If you are defensive and you feel that you are lonely even with a hot sexy tanned hireling who works for you, get a valkyrie. Or if you are a big fan of Matrix and love the dodges, get the dodges. Or if you are the type who worships Zeus, you know what to get.

I think, for now, that is about it for this section.
I'll update it as we go along.

++++++++++++++++++++
PROS AND CONS
++++++++++++++++++++

Good side:
a) She deals damage in the masses, and kills quick, and the plague stays for a few seconds. Strategic movements around the plague makes her very playable in hell
b) She is safe as she will be fighting from the distance

Bad side:
a) Life is not as much compared to Barbarians and Paladins, but hopefully the good side makes up for it.
b) If it's an immune, "Mayday mayday, Povazon down, Povazon down, Get a Javazon in here, STAT!"

++++++++++++++++++++
HANDLING IMMUNES
++++++++++++++++++++

Shortest section ever.

There is not many ways to handle it, so it'll be brief.

You will either have to get a wand with Lower Resist charges that is of very high level. The higher the better.
Trust me, finding one will seriously make your life better in hell mode.

Or a real strong mercenary. Infinity will not help, because Conviction does not affect Poison resistance, just the other three.

Or, depending on your remaining skill points, you can use Lightning Fury os Guided arrows to solve the problem. If you use Guided Arrows, I'd expect you to at least have pierce to make use of each shot.

That's about it.

++++++++++++++++++++
GAMEPLAY STYLE
++++++++++++++++++++

This section is pretty direct, here is simply how you play the Povazon and some of things you must remember at all times.

a) You are not a head on fighter, you must be evasive and illusive in nature, don't let your opponents hit you, may it be a monster or a player

b) Make full use of each throw of your Javelin, because of the long cool down, this is vital. Mastering this skill is a must

c) Always use Plague Javelin, it is the preferred choice. Although Poison Javelin does substantial damage, it's too long. I can actually eat my dinner and come back, and it's still not done with its damage.

d) Try and level your mercenary, he is the one who will be your saviour in times of need, due to the immunities. Trust me, leveling this guy is worth it.

e) Always keep a good supply of mana potions, your mana aint that much, but it's just nice. So, keep a few bottles or so, or even better, just stockpile on Rejuvenations.

++++++++++++++++++++
PHOTOS BONANZA
++++++++++++++++++++

Enjoy!

The picture of the Plague Javelin and its damage; This is over a time frame of 20.6 seconds I think.

++++++++++++++++++++
CONCLUSION
++++++++++++++++++++

Yes, this brings me to the conclusion of the "Introduction of the Povazon".

I hope you have enjoyed reading this, if you feel that the build can be strong in any way, feel free to post a comment or critique on it, as it will help you and everyone else. Remember, the skill section is still a prototype choice, it will change in the future, with updates as we go along.

Do have a nice day. God bless

your missing an s on monster in a)
otherwise your guide looks ok.. i know the psn dmg looks high in pvp, but over a second its 1400 dmg with 75% psn resistance. im wondering how fast your javazon can throw psn javs, because i remember using psn javs a while ago and there was a huge time delay.

Sir,

I'm not sure, I was using Trangs....I don't know if the Plague Javelin would have been faster with Increased Attack speed or faster cast rate items...but however, if the Trangs changed to better glove, it would have been increase, by an overall 10k damage, so yeah. Smile

Also, I have no idea what monster are you referring too..hehe

Do have a nice day.

Maybe this helps.
The Arreat Summit Wrote:Some skills have a Casting Delay. A Casting Delay is a period of time after a player has cast a spell during which the player cannot re-cast that spell. For example, after casting Blizzard you must wait a few seconds before you're able to cast another one. The delay differs between skills. Not all skills have a Casting Delay. There is nothing you can do to reduce or eliminate the Casting Delay. If the Skill Action Button becomes red after casting a spell and you have enough Mana to cast it, this means the Casting Delay is active. This is done to prevent slow down of graphical performance and to avoid abusive use of the skills.

Tip: While you're waiting through the Casting Delay you can switch to another spell and use it while you're waiting for the first skill to be available to cast again. Example: Cast a Fire Wall (Casting Delay), then quickly switch to Static Field (No Casting Delay), then switch back to Fire Wall again. Once you get your timing right you can constantly cast spells even with a Casting Delay on one or both of them. Casting Delay spells are connected, such as the Druid's Armageddon and Hurricane, so you may not be able to combine two of the same Casting Delay spell.

Poison Javelin - 0.5 seconds
Plague Javelin - 4 seconds
Immolation Arrow - 1 second
Valkyrie - 6 seconds

Sorceress

Meteor - 1.2 seconds
Hydra - 2 seconds
Blizzard - 1.8 seconds
Frozen Orb - 1 second

Paladin
Fist of the Heavens - 1 second

Druid
Firestorm - 0.6 seconds
Molten Boulder - 2 seconds
Fissure - 2 seconds
Volcano - 4 seconds

Grizzly Bear - 1 second

Sir Keitaro,

Thanke! Haha, I did once think that it could not be changed.

However, if you master the art of throwing properly, it should be okay!Smile

I would max valkyrie in this build, and not to mention lightning fury. Lightning fury is a very nice skill to combinate with the plague and poison javelin. Valkyrie to keep enemys away from you.

Sir,

Yeah, that I know, but I've tried it, and she does not seem strong at all. In Hell, she just slows your death down, and does not contribute offensive wise. Maybe it's because she does not have her max synergies.

Yeah, Lightning fUry should be maxed, but be prepared for low damage though, something around 1-1000~ Maybe. Smile

Do have a nice day.

With skillers, the lightning fury does fair enough damage. And renember that it splits into many bolts when it hit the target.

hey i was thinking, since valk helm only adds +2 skils and some frw helms not much btu good y not use a p griffons with p facet which will give a great deal of dmg to fury to help kill and will still give +1 to poison skills
Reply
#13
Sir,

Well, a decrease in +1...is alot....

But...like Keitaro said, the fury would be decent enough with the skillers, so there is nothing to worrySmile

Do have a nice day.

if the lightning dmg is high enough why not aim for a 2 socketed coa and put cham+5/5 psn die facet in it?
Reply
#15
Sir,

Well, I think it's because the damage will drop, and like I said, this build needs the damage as high as possible, only with lightning as backup. Most of the time she would be out of the range of Holy Freezing auras, that's what I think.

However, if you feel that it's better, and have tested it out, let me know. Smile

Thanks, do have a nice day.
