there's a lot of people who aren't quite on par with the intelligent train on this website. which is understandable, not everyone can be teh l33t



every time I browse the hacks and doop section (which really is about once or twice a week) there's a new scam thread. some new trojan by a random asshat. whoever downloads that trash deserves to get yoinked, but as D2S is such a loving community who genuinely gives a shit(right??) i purpose there should be a manditory, must-be-read warning about all that shit. you KNOW atleast one person got owned due to a bullshit thread in the doop section

Or they find something on a site they are afraid to try. So they let more advanced people have a look at it and determine if it is safe to use(very unlikely). Next time they should scan it first, not with their outdated crap but with an online one.

I still don't understand why people don't scan the files themselves. I mean what makes a mods scanner so different from a regular persons scanner? Its not like mods have super scanner that can scan out everything.

it's not the fact that they can't do it themselves. I'm sure every average idiot out there has at least some type of virus scanner and is at least competent enough to know how to scan a file after downloading it. I think people just want mods to give it the ok, because then they know it's either....

a) a good file, so use it, because a mod said so, and they're reputable and wouldn't lie
b) a bad file, so don't use it, because a mod said so, and they're reputable and wouldn't lie
c) a bad file, but the mod scanned it and found nothing anyways, so if they get a virus because of it, it's the mod's fault, not their own

but at least we know better though, don't we?

The only noob i read in this thread is you, your probably a sour, mental giant that was probably scammed before, dont wish something bad on another player, they will learn now to open .exe but i dont think its something to smile upon.
