What the hell happened?

I traded for a SOJ and played D2 for a couple of days. Today i logged on to my character and the soj was missing. I thougth the SOJ was legit cuz i didn't perm after each game. Where did it go?

apparentally it wasnt legit, it wotn always poof immediately.

i think it poofs when u jion a game and there another duped item thats the same. Then it goes poof for the one made after the original one. I think u can perm an item. Theres a sticky in one of the subforums about perming. Hope i helped.

Yeah, when two or more of the same item with the same IP are in the same game, then it will poof, or at least has a high chance of poofing. Temp perming (opening a trade window and leaving the game fast) will change the IP until the next game. It was also believed that selling the item and buying it back would change the item's IP, but it doesn't. I think socketing the item changes it's IP, which is why they don't poof out of runewords (to the best of my knowledge, and experience), but I can't be 100% sure.

Yeah when u sockit a dupe it perms because the ip of the item changes into another ip along with the item u socketed. So thats how u can perm. lol hope i helped.

Interesting, so if I get, for instance, a duped tyrael, socket it with any gem or sth, the IP changes? If so, then it probably won't change back when I unsocket the armor then, right?

dont think so. becasue the items duped not the rune. but dont take it from me i dont really know a lot

yes the ip changes but i dunno if u unsocket. it prolly will change but not change back to the duped one. cuz i think when u unsocket in cube with the recipe it switched ur armour with another unsocketed one and takes the socketed one away. so new ip? correct me if im wrong plz.
