I guess it's an exception for MP3 players or you just found it on sale or something. Normally though on most Sony products you pay alot more just because it's a Sony. Like with Plasma TVs you can get a Pioneer, which is also better, for alot less than a Sony (We're talking a difference in the thousands).

For my portable mp3s I use my PSP. I have a 1 gig stick. My dad has an Ipod he bought over on eBay. I know at least... 6 people with Ipods. They never complain to me about problems.

Ipods ****ing suck, only advantage is that you can hack em more easily and throw more things on them. Otherwise they are overpriced adnd the only reason people buy them is cause its whats popular, not knowing they can get a zen for less that performs better. Im lookin at a creative zen myself.

people go for the ipod cause they are mainstream.

i listen to music alot but dont really listen on a mp3 player that much
i just get the cd to support the band/artist and listen mostly on my cdplayer.
i know i might not look hip/up-to-date carrying around a cdplayer and could just rip the audio files off the cd but i wanna put the cd i bought to use

and i think the "best" mp3 player depends on the person.
some might consider best mp3 player by design, performance or features.
and i gotta admit ipod does have clean and simple design (which in my book is good) but the performance isnt all that great.

I listen to my CDs mostly in my room on my stereo. I listen to MP3s in my car or on my comp. Though I'm with Logic if an album is good I'll buy it and support the group.

ipods rock i have 2 of them i have the 20 gig then when i bought my ibook i got a mini there both really nice i know they are kinda expensive but they're worth it to me

Pfft, dont talk to me about expensive I got like the first Generation iPods when they came out, 2-300 dollars more than what they are now. That was a few years ago, I haven't had a problem yet, and also when I'm at home I use my iTrip (Plays my iPod through the radio) as well as in the car. Staticless and performs great. Battery life isnt as much as the smaller ones, but I prefer my iPod over the other mp3 players I see. Btw, I don't see much of the other players, I either see the iPods or like 15-30 song ones. So I'm comparing my iPod to those that hold 30 songs.

Well so far the 1 day that i've used the Zen Touch for i'm happy with it.. GR8 Sound quality and build quality! Dont know what Ipod my GF has but it feels like a cheap plastic toy compared to the Zen... Which has more of a robust metal feel to it... Just ordered a Belkin TuneCast II for it ^.^ Only problem i had so far was when copying files over.. when i got to about 1000 songs it started playing up.. all i had to do was restart it into recovery mode run the disk cleanup/defrag and it has been all smooth since then :p + upgraded the firmware.
