Ok I have a question. I'm building an ice sorc. and first off I want to ask how many skill points does it take to max out a certain skill? i was thinking about using frozen orb or blizzard as my main attack. answers and suggestions would really help thanks.

20 to max, and both orb and blizz are good, but under blizz check out what it gets bonusses from. Maxe blizz and the bonus-givers, then ull be an uber good ice sorce. Also, you want energy shield and static field from lightning as well, but Its all up to you, those are just good is all.

Cold is obviously the best in hell simply because it reduces the resistance of monsters (cold mastery), compared to other elements of fire. Fire and Light may have a much higher damge, but you have to remember that in hell most monsters are taking 50% or less damage. I would suggest using a weapon switch for mana shield because it has a many presquisits. I would suggest moderate MF and cow runs because there are soo many cows sumthing good is bound to drop, and cows aren't usually immune to cold. With Glacial spike to freeze the cows and blizzard max w/ synergies you will mow the cows down.
alright man, you wanna max all the synergies for blizzard and orb and 1 point to warmth that is the best build of all for a cold sorc

Dude, there's nothing wrong with magefists on a cold sorc. The glove adds to mana regen and an extra point in warmth. Also, the faster cast rate is nice for teleporting.
