Regarding CD Bans
#1
First i'd like to say i was part of this banning thing and victimized by myself/netter or whom ever.

While everyone is saying "oh its all my fault" or "orh i shuda listened" about their accounts stolen and cd keys banned, ask yourselves this, does Blizzard have the right to do this?

Taking away our accounts may seem a reasonable thing to do since Bnet is a form of internet tournament and Blizzard is the regulator.

But CD-keys are a whole different story, Bnet players are not playing for profit and they PAID for these keys. Though some people like to cheat but i don't think that cheating on a not-for-profit gaming site should result in actual financial loss. I don't think Blizzard has the right to ban these cd-keys, by purchasing these games we have a right to play and they can't just take it away because we cheated. There isn't a rule about Blizzard reserving the right to take away what we paid for that cd-key for cheating. This is taking our money.

Also Blizzard should take into consideration that D2 is a rather aged game, by banning accounts on this scale many people would quit and probably never come back to this again. Aren't they losing business majorly by taking this action? They are killing their own market.

I spent some time on my account and take some pride in it, and now it's gone i just don't have the heart to come back to it. It's over i probably will never touch that D2 cd again. I'm sure some of you might share my thoughts.

Anyways this is just my afterthought and you can call me "noob" or whatever you feel like, i just felt like sharing this.

Peace out D2:confused: , this is rather an awkward to go out isn't it?

Blizzard have 100% right to do it.......

Sure, you paid for game..........but rules are rules and there is consequences

Blizzard always said if you use maphack you can get acct and/or cdkey deleted..........

You used it at your own risks and you lost .......

Cheating is against user agreement, so they were allowed to do what they did.

hurly has a point but yes people will leave d2 and not come back and blizzard lost at least 30% of the people that they banned

Sure, people may leave, but this makes Blizzard a much more respectable company afterwards and more will come. Anyways, their original purpose of the game was of the enjoyment and not to use 3rd party software to help you do so. After these bannings, it helps create a better B.net the way it was supposed to be played.

I am not quitting diablo, i will not give up without putting up a fight. Ok, I agree with everyone, Blizzard and All the Addicts, but i wana kno if blizzard made the maphack or not. There are major rumors going around that Blizzard was redony for this and planned it out as they went along. They made the patch and told evryone about all the new stuff and the new ladder and everything and had a maphacka ll set and ready and let it out about a week after and got people to download it and banned the peopel who did so. If this true there are some major lawsuits included, Piracy, for making the hack, and Entrapment, for getting us to download it and everything...

D2 is no doubt one of the greatest games of its kind, it has no competition, and i would buy another diablo and expansion if thats wat it takes to start playing again, and i have receiuved an email form blizzardtelling me about the situation:

Hello,

A Diablo II account will be closed by Blizzard Entertainment for any of the
following reasons:

Use of 3rd-party programs (hacks):
Any third-party program that is designed to affect the way the user interacts
with Battle.net is considered a hack program. This includes seemingly harmless
third-party utilities that work with the game to provide functions that were not
included by the game designers. While many of these utilities might not have
been created to disrupt the balance of the game, they alter the original design
of the program. The detection of any such program by Battle.net may result in
the closure of the user's account or even the temporary or permanent banning of
the associated CD-Key.

Until the account expires anyone attempting to access it will receive an invalid
password message. Once the account expires, it will be possible for anyone to
create a new account with the same name. We cannot delete or expire the account
manually.

We regret having to employ such extreme measures; however, certain activities
(as detailed in the Battle.net Terms of Use Agreement and/or End User License
Agreement of the game) have impaired the game play experience of the community
as a whole and a severe response continues to be warranted.

And, I have just received yet anotehr reply from blizzard::

Hello,

Unfortunately, I'm not at liberty to discuss the recent bannings yet. From what I understand, a public statement is likely to be made soon. Check the website periodically as it ought to be posted soon. http://www.battle.net

i know blizzard has the authority to do this in the banning of cd-keys but u would think they would at least give you a warning first before they do it , not alot of people know that map hacks are detectable , i for one tnever thought u would get caught using map hack i just think it woulda been more fair to give warnings with the deletion of the account that used map hack , then if they continued ban the cd-key, just seems to make more sense.

for one thing you paid for single player... you didn't pay for battle.net that was complementary from blizzard. You are hacking on something you got from them for free of course u deserved to get banned.

And besides that fact... blizzard will make money on there account banning. Although u might not be smart enough to see it people lose there accounts... that means more games will be bought from the people who lost them. They will need a new cd key to play the game so they will have to buy them. As for the people they lost they were not making any profit off of them because the service for b.net is free.

Legally, we don't really have a leg to stand on. One can ***** ad nauseum about how it's 'unfair' and such, but we did knowingly break the ToS and they acted on it.

My major qualm is that they went after the easy targets. It's quite obvious after this that a large part of the community used MH. What about scammers, dupers etc.? What about all those who used MH pre-1.11 and didn't move to easymap, and hence got away safely?

This was a blanket ban that affected only a minority of those who actually do use hacks.
