Help with d2loader/Battle.net gateways

Hey guys, I love d2 but I cannot play right now and its killing me.

I just got to college for the semester and left my LOD CD at home. So, I heard about d2loader and I made backups of the necessary files for it to run. The game runs but I CANNOT connect to Battle.net.

Here is what happens: I run the game by clicking d2loader in my diablo II directory. I get to the main menu and Under the Battle.Net button is BROODWARS.COM listed as my gateway. Usually it is US EAST which is the realm I play. Well when I click on the battle.net button is says "connecting to fastest server..." and then an error pops up saying unable to connect to battle.net.

I know the gateway isnt correct but I have 4 choices and they are all bogus and none of them work. My choices are server.fsgs.net, broodwars.com, brutal clan server, or intranet: 0.0.0.0.

Is this a problem with d2loader? here is how I set it up. I am not using the storm.dll that came with it because it doesnt work, my game is patched to 1.11 and i have d2loader v1.11. I took d2 loader and the 2 necessary mpq files and put them into the diablo directory and run the game by clicking on d2loader.

Now i can play single player buut no battle net. However, I usually only play on battle net. If I cant play on battle net with d2loader that is fine, but i want to know if maybe something else is messing up my ability to connect.

how did u get the two mpqs needed for it to run if u left ur lod cd at home? becuase u need to get the files off the cd itself

and it sounds like u have a false or hacked d2 loader where did u get it?

I had the files transferred to me via AIM by my brother who had my CD at home. They are 52.1mb and 105mb. (if you guys have different size files let me know)

I downloaded my d2loader via a pretty good site it looked like.

It is just my gateway is all messed up. I have no idea why US EAST,WEST and the others arent showing up.

if anyone else knows anything about this please let me know

quick update... I re-downloaded d2loader from this website and still I get the same realm BS thing

I think you will have to re-install it :/. Because the d2xvideo is 211 mb.

If you dont got the cd's.. I think you will not be able to play

You should have do this before downloading anything...:
Download d2 loader from here then ask files to your brother...

D2xvideo.mpq
D2xmusic.mpq
Copy them in your d2 directory.

And that d2loader wasn't the good one (I think so)
Now.. try to download an .Iso of the game on winmx or what ever.
If you can't download them go buy them :/ There is surely a store near your college -.-


Try to do this too :

Download the attached file.
Open the registery and add it to the registery. It will update your server list.

GUJU, Thank you that registry entry you gave me really did the trick. US EAST showed up and I could connect to it but I could not join any games, only browse in the channels. If I made a game it would still say Failed to Join game. Im guessing that is a problem with the d2xvideo or d2xmusic file. I am currently downloading an ISO image of the expansion CD to use.

If not I can always run to the nearest wal mart (30 min away) for the game cuz im in the middle of nowhere down here.

just wow thank you so much and let me know what you think about the FAILED TO JOIN GAME stuff. Hopefully a new CD will fix that, I just wanted to make sure I was able to connect to battle.net through this damn firewall.

Can you explain me more about that failed to join?? What is the EXACT message??
Oh yea if your transfer is slow .. I can send you the ISO by msn... I made an back up yesterday.

I started a bittorrent for the ISO file but my download maxes around 2kbps. My MSN name is [email protected] and I am not very familiar with the way MSN works with file sending and all but I know aim must not work since it messed up those other files. Thanks very much Guju, I have classes today so I may be in and out.

I dont know but the file did the job for the gateway reset.

Guju its ok about the MSN thing, it was slow and wouldve taken forever anyway but you gave the effort which is nice. Thanks.

Im downloading an ISO torrent I hope it works right but I guess buying it at wal mart wouldnt be that bad.

It's a file who contain the servers registery..

OK, I got an email back from blizzard and they gave me the same registry entry for the servers. They seemed laid back about d2loader. They said just watch out because some hacks are bad versions and can change your cd key and stuff. He told me to try to get an ISO of the game or if I'm worried about a cd key change to wait until I get a legit copy and reinstall.

OK i got an ISO but it says cd rom drive error when I try to play. this just sucks
