Intro.. and request
#1
Hey everyone, I ran across this section of the forum and after reading the stickied "Programming FAQ" thread it sparked my interest to take another stab at learning a different programming language. In the past I've tried to tackle C++ and kept getting stuck, but after reading a few tutorials I think I'm going to understand it better this time around.

After reading a few quick tutorials, i finished reading the FAQ thread here, and decided maybe it would be better to start with something easier first, such as python, as suggested. My past experience in scripting/programming, has consisted of HTML/ a little CSS/ and last year in school took a semester of Visual Basic. I combined my knowldege of html and vb to create a program to display poker game stats on a webpage, but I've found that there's not a whole lot you can do with VB, or with my knowledge of it.. I'd really like to learn how to implement API into my VB programs, but anytime i get near the subject, my A.D.D kicks in and i get lost. (I dont have A.D.D. Wink )

request/question time:

Is it worth my time to learn API for use in VB or should I just wait until i learn C++ (What i hope to learn eventually). Given my backround of some script/programming knowledge, would learning python be a step back? rephrased: Should i just move on to C++?

If it is worth my time to learn API, could someone help me out ;/ ? Wink
Carefull how you answer that Smile, I'm going to have a million questions.

I think thats good enough for now.... and hello, hello, again.

Thanks for the link skidude,
I've been cramming alot of reading these past few days, having a lot of fun learning this stuff up until now heh. I keep getting this error when I try to compile my program:

Circular Menu <- Menu.o dependency dropped.
[Build Error] [PokerStats4Web.exe] Error 1

You may of seen this, as its quite popular with the google pages... (easy to find) but all the fixes suggested by other people, fly right over my head. Most suggestions say the fix requires adding -r -somethingelse -blah etc heh, and thats all find and dandy but where do I add this?! In the make file? after what command or on which line?

once again, thanks for the jump start Wink

Edit:*11:00 PM 8/30/05*

More Info: I'm using Bloodshed's Dev C++ compiler.

I've recently been receiving another error, that I've done some googling for but not alot.

Error #2:
[Linker error] undefined reference to `WinMain@16'
ld returned 1 exit status

If anyone could help me understand the reason for this error, I'd appreciate it... off to good ol' google...
