If you have Hero Editor V0.80 or V0.82, just start it up, then press the F1 key. This will bring up a Help file. Read through that Help file, and you should be close to an expert in no time.

For those that are already familiar with Hero Editor, here is some information about some shortcuts when using Hero Editor:

Fast editing with Hero Editor

=>look at the Tool Tip Text information

Right click on an inventory picture and select an Editing option, to bring up the Extras window. In the Item Attributes tree (in the middle section), select the Magic, Set Magic or Rune Magic list. A list of Magic Attributes will show in the right section. Put the mouse cursor over top of the right section, and the following Tool Tip Text should pop up: "Click to EDIT, <Shift>Click to DELETE, <Ctrl>Click to add to BUFFER, <Alt>Click to Paste All from Buffer".

So, to delete attributes, hold the Shift button down, and click (and release) the left mouse button when over top of each attribute that you want to delete (don't click too fast, since deleting each attribute is a bit slow, lol). Repeat this for any of the other attribute lists (Magic, Set, Rune). If the item is socketed, then on the left side, scroll down and select one of the socketed items. Repeat the above to delete magic attributes from the socketed item lists.

To add one or several magic attributes to items is basically the same sequence as above. But first, put the magic attributes that you want to copy, into the BUFFER. Do this by using the above sequence, but use <Ctrl>Click to add each desired magic attribute into the Buffer. Then use the above sequence, but use <Alt>Click to paste a copy of the magic attributes from the Buffer into the item list.

If you need to see what is already in the Buffer, go to any inventory picture (empty or not) in the Hero Editor main window, right click, and select "VIEW what is in Buffer". If you want to delete everything that is in the buffer, so you can add new magic attributes, then right click on any inventory location, and select "DELETE Buffer".

BTW, do you know how to quickly duplicate or delete items? If not, then do this:

To quickly delete items, put the mouse cursor over the item picture, and press (and release) the Delete key. Repeat for additional items that you want to delete.

To quickly make copies of an item, put the mouse cursor over the item picture, and click and release the mouse left button. (This will put a copy of the item into the Picked Up location.) Now, put the mouse cursor overtop of an empty location in the inventory, and click and release the left mouse button. (This will make a copy of the item, and put it into the empty inventory location, if it fits.)

You can use this to quickly socket an item by doing the following. Make an item socketed, and add enough Increased Sockets to get 7 available sockets. Make a jewel, Ith Runeword it, and add your desired magic attributes to the Magic list and the Rune Magic list. (You can use the Favorites menu to add magic attributes to the Magic list, then the BUFFER for the rest of the lists.) Put the mouse cursor over the picture of the jewel in the inventory, and click and release the left mouse button. (This puts a copy of the item into the Picked Up location.) Click an empty spot in the inventory -- and a copy of the jewel appears. Left click and drag (hold mouse left button down) the jewel until the mouse cursor is overtop of the item being socketed, and drop the item (release the left mouse button). Go back to the now empty inventory location, and left click (and release) the mouse button again -- another copy of the jewel appears. Drag and drop this second jewel into the item. Repeat this until up to seven sockets are filled -- do NOT fill more than 7 sockets. If later on you want to add or remove magic attributes, see the method described above.
