For those who are planning on upgrading a Gaze, don't!!! If you upgrade it, you can actually decrease the total defense of the Gaze by rolling a low base defense on the Bone Visage. The minimum defense you can roll on the gaze is 200, and the maximum defense you can roll is 314. I upgraded a Gaze to 214 defense. lol. Luckily, it was on open, otherwise, I would've been pi$$$ed!
Don't bother upgrading a Zak shield also. The best you can roll from a perfect 200 ED Zak (507 defense) is 579 defense.
Spirit Shroud and Vipermagi seem pretty good after the upgrade. Spirit Shroud's defense range is 910-1175. Vipermagi's defense range is 794-1027.
FYI.
