I have created several sorceress on different occations.
In normal games it's not too hard.
I litterally walk thru the game in NightMare mode. (Very EZ)
If I even try to leave the Rogue Encampment I get killed when in Hell.
Has anyone ever gotten a Sorceress to survive in hell?
What am I doing wrong?
My resistances are all above 50% in Hell but if any monster touches me I die.
My armor is over 500 defence and I have a total Defence of over 2000.
What is the secret?

well for most sorc builds, they put enough str and dex for gear and rest in vitality with optinal some into energy. make sure ur sorc has about 1000 base life.

I've found that the best way to do anything in hell is to build a sorc for a specific purpose e.g. Blizz/Orb for Meph/Pindel, Blast/FB for duelling, Light for botting. If you have extremely good equipment for your merc that will also help you out. Don't even bother playing through Hell alone after killing NM baal!
I also read under the char development section that if you have level 28 Conviction you can brake some immunities.

My Sorceress:

Armour= Crow Caw Tigulated Mail Def=504 OR Skin of the Vipermage Def=279 Socketed
Helm= Doom Crest Def=102
Boot= Dire Tred Demonhide (Crafted) Def=29 OR Right of Passage (SET)
Belt= Goldwrap heavy belt Def=35
Glove= Brimstone Finger Bramble Mitts Def=90
Rings= Dead Hold (Crafted) & Nagelring
Amy= Telling of Beads (SET)
Weapon= Ribcracker Quarterstaff Socketed
TREE:
Fire skills= Warmth 13, Enchant 2, Hydra 6, Mastry 3, Fireball 2, Firebolt 2
Lightning skills= Charged bolt 2, Static field 7, Lightning 2, Chain Light 3, Telekiness 2, Teleport 2, Mastry 2
Cold skills= Frost Nova 5, Blizzard 4, Frozen orb 21, Ice bolt 2, Ice blast 2, Glacial spike 2, Mastry 6, Frozen armor 2, shiver armor 3, chilling armor 2

Helm= Corpse viel sallet Def=69
Bow= Skystrike Edge bow
Thats about it. Except for The Ancients quest, I have played solo. Sometimes in nightmare I type in PLAYERS 8... PLAYER 8. This makes the monsters much harder.
So now that you know who I am, maybe you can set me on the right path. I just can't survive in hell at all.
Thanks... Cavorite

first thing is, your skills are all to widely spaced out. nothing is really helped by any of your syngeries. a 2 tree sorc is alright (personally i just like sticking with one tree sorcs, my lightning one with infinity merc is as good as any) but all 3 trees just spaces out your points too much so you loose lots of damage. also your items could use some make overs. looking at what you have right now, im guessing you cant trade for stuff like maras, so go for a tals set ammy, and tals belt (arach is best i think though, but expensive), what other mods are on your body armor? and viper in hell may be a bit hard... give skulders a try good def and +1 skills. ribcracker is not a good sorc weapon, get an occy, or a leaf runeword staff, or razorswitch, or somehitng that will give you + sorc skills, cause you need + skills to help you with your spread tree build. nagel is really only good for mfin, may want to look into a raven frost, or a dwarf star if you cant afford a soj or bk. (whats the stats on your crafted one?) for your gloves once again whats the major stats, and i would suggest frostburns or something. pretty cheep.

his stats arent fine, way too many pts in energy....i agree that his items suck, and yes his skills are terrible
oh and if a mod or someone that has the ability sees this please set my title thing back to default. some jackass (believe it was slimp) changed it again. i'd change it myself but i want the default so i can see what it changes to as my post count increases

I'm not sure I understand what your talking about???
first thing is, your skills are all to widely spaced out. nothing is really helped by any of your syngeries. What are syngeries?
a 2 tree sorc is alright (personally i just like sticking with one tree sorcs, my lightning one with infinity merc is as good as any) but all 3 trees just spaces out your points too much so you loose lots of damage.
What is an infinity merc?
If you put all your points in only one area, say fire, how do you deal with monsters that are immune to fire?
also your items could use some make overs. looking at what you have right now, im guessing you cant trade for stuff like maras, so go for a tals set ammy, and tals belt (arach is best i think though, but expensive), what other mods are on your body armor? and viper in hell may be a bit hard... give skulders a try good def and +1 skills. ribcracker is not a good sorc weapon, get an occy, or a leaf runeword staff, or razorswitch, or somehitng that will give you + sorc skills, cause you need + skills to help you with your spread tree build. nagel is really only good for mfin, may want to look into a raven frost, or a dwarf star if you cant afford a soj or bk. Are you suggesting that I go on Ebay and buy items? That's rediculas!!! Where am I sa'pose to find the items you suggest?
As far as finding a SOJ... I've been playing for more than a year and I've only seen ONE SOJ in all that time. For a long time I thought they were only a mith.
The weapon I use is probably the best thing I have. Does lots of dam, has fgood mods and gives +1 to skills. The rest of my equipt is lacking a bit but it is the best I have been able to find. I play mostly by myself in single games that I create with a password. When playing with lots of other people They only kill the boss then leave the game. I on the other hand explore almost everything and open all chests, jars, etc.
I have nothing people want so trading is out of the question, besides people want the moon for their stuff.
Example:"I'll give you Tal's belt for the entire IK set."... Yeh right!
Thanks for the help but it looks as if a sorc in hell is impossible.

Completly possible, I did this on ladder, and my sorc blew threw hell, just get a merc to tank and attack and you should be fine. (this was all the way up to ancients before I needed help)

I personaly think you should remake that character completely. In the character guides section they list different items for the poor and the rich and that should help you there. Follow the stats and skill instuction they give you because they are the standard sorc that will be able to handel anything. I suggest that you start off with a fire sorc just because they are the cheapest build and easiest to use in my opinion. As for fire imunes, just ignore them, the only monsters that you have to kill in the game are bosses and they have no imunitiy. If you cant kill it, leave it alone.
EDIT: You should go to Areat Summit to learn more about how the game works, thats where I learned most of the stuf i know( and these forums.) wow, that build is pretty bad man, i have to agree that u just remake him. Keep all your points in synergies and ALOT more vit.

seriously, remake you're sorc, as she has too much str/dex, and not enough vit. the dmg on your weapon shouldnt matter, cos if ur trying 2 melee monsters, you're gonna die, no matter what your gear is. focus on ONE skill tree, with orb possibly as backup. for immunes, use ur merc, or just run away. synergies are skills which by putting points into, increase the damage of other skills, even when not active. ie fire bolt is a synergy to fire ball, meaning adding a point into fire bolt will add to fireball damage. infinity is a ladder only runeword, btu since u play single player, dw about it.

Like recommended by many build strategies, focus on one main skill (including synergies, more on that later) and one other backup skill. I'm a big advocate of only one backup skill (read ALTERNATE SKILL TREE) because you won't have enough skill points to fully develop more than one.
For example, if you want to build a Chain Lightning sorceress, you will need to max out Chain Lightning as well as the synergies (complimentary skills that enhance Chain Lightning) such as Lightning and Charged Bolt, not to mention Lightning Mastery. Also, keep in mind that there are a few other "basic" skills that all Sorceresses need like Warmth and Teleport. To deal with Lightning Immune monsters, you will need a backup skill or alternate skill tree such as Fireball or Frozen Orb. You may not be able to max out these skills, but it may be worth doing so in place of having *all* synergies from your main skill maxed. IMHO its worth doing it, but others may disagree (based on what the character is for).
Sorceresses are less dependent on equipment than other classes, but still a huge part of your overall play style and experience. The general rule of thumb is enough strength to equip items, enough dexterity for maximum block (this is arguable), and then the big decision is whether to pump vitality or energy or both (depending if you use Energy Shield).
Finally, get a mercenary. Let him be your meatshield/decoy/b*tch and draw the attention away from you while you do your thing from a safer distance.
There's a lot of *very* good information in these forums. If you need a hand pm me.
