Cool, i have a gateway 510x i think, and i got into modding so i had some fun with it Big Grin. I put in my own side window, Blue LED's in the front, and a Sunbeam light set (the one where you can change the color of the light inside)

Pics plz. :-P I plan on adding a window in my case (shown here, it's an unbelievable deal) that will be a set in of this glass negative of a picture I have from circa 1800-early 1920s (not sure exactly how old), and I'll have some blue leds lighting it up from the inside. It's gonna look really freaky at night cause the picture is of some old guy in a suit.

Looks cool. What metal is the case made out of? And what did you use to cut it? Your cable management looks as bad as mine Tongue

lol the case is steel i believe, and my father(co-owns a body shop) cut it with a plasma cutter and i filed the edges flat. yea i gotta work on the cable management... The window we countersunk so its flush with the outside of the side panel.

Lol, lucky! I was hoping you used a dremel or something so I could see how you did it, cause I've never used one before Tongue Fortunately I have a spare case, so I can tear that one up for practice Smile

Seriously though its not that hard without a fancy plasma cutter. all you would have to do outline your hole, drill a nice sized hole and get the sawblade in through the hole and cut out the window. Just make sure you don't warp the case from all the stress cutting causes. But what i want to do for my next mod, is get a mini motherboard and fit the whole computer into a brushed aluminum breifcase. Possibly if i have room i could mount a flatscreen inside it too.

I didn't think it was too hard, I just wondered if you had any things you wished you'd done differently. I've heard AL (what my case is made out of), being a soft metal, tends to gum up fast so you have to take it in smaller steps than normal. Like I said, I'll be using a dremel (I wish I had acess to a jig saw cutter or something, My grandpa has tons of wood working equipment, but he lives in Cleveland, which is about 2.5 hours away). I've seen a briefcase mod once before, I can get the link if you want just to look at it. But you'd better post lots of pics during your mod. Imagine going into a meeting, setting your briefcase on the table, opening it up and then typing in notes! Tongue

Ummm im pretty satisfied with my mod, umm the only thing i think i would have done differently was to not have placed pure blue lazer LED's in the front, but rather place one of the chageable LED's units i have the in the actual case. I can always change it later though. I will post tons of pics when i make my briefcase mod but it probly won't be for 2 years. Whats the link to the site? I think i would enjoy looking a pic of a briefcase mod.

Here's a couple pics of the briefcase mod, not sure how much it'll help maybe it can give you some ideas. Adding a LCD screen would be awesome tho
