D2 Locks up HELP!

Hi My computer WILL lock up 100% of the time I run d2 exp. Ill just be playing in windowed mode and blam comp locks up and i hafta restart! If i try running in fullscreen It shows The Title Screen before The single player...multiplayetr..exit button screen then i click the title screen and bam comp locks up and i hafta restart! My specs are.
-Windows XP PRO
-AMD 1.2Ghz CPU
-256 Megs Ram
-120 Gig Harddrive
-Nvidia Geforce4Ti4400 128meg

PS.. i have formatted and it still does this. And after format i even uninstalled and reinstalled! Whats going on i wanna play d2!

I've heard that if you jump from 1.04 right to 1.10 things get squirrely. Whatever version your cd is, download the next patch from bliz, then the next, then the next until you're 1.10.

wut u mean by locks up? freezes? try downloadin software from microsoft to fix this prob. it might be a glitch in your cpu or hardware operation, microsoft might have a patch for thiss. or try Bonks idea
