Search engine warning!!!!
#1
ok well the bush admin. (whatever) people are goingrandomly take data from major search engine to help make better child filters for the interent. and major search engines like yahoo and msn have complied. the only major one that hasn't it google(the biggest) which says its a privacy violation of it's users. Plus it could reveal their trade secrets and cripple their business or soemthing. i'll get the linbk up here in a sec. So i think this ting is going to court but i think since googles a milion-dollar industry i think there going to go out noble house style til th end and oppose the bush administration till they have to comply or it's ruled they dont. so i say we should use google as they have respect for all our privacy and are resising the government.

Said it before, I'll say it again. I don't give a shit if some guy that I'll never meet is peeking at the websites I'm looking at, listening in on a useless phone conversation, or hiding in my attic playing old Don Johnson records. Really doesn't matter to me.

is anybody else concerned that bush is chipping away at our privacy, piece by piece?

From what the local newspaper said, Yahoo did release information, but only on word(s) entered of all searches made. The actual IP's from each search were still concealed if I recall correctly.

If Google did the same as Yahoo, I'd be ok with it. I don't care what the gov. looks for in terms of what is searched as long as whatever I search isn't linked to me. Not saying I search for illegal crap, but I just like the security I have of not being watched by "the man."

but the point is the government probably CAN if they want to. And that bush is pushing his power trying to get this to happen. didn't he like approve a wire-tap without going to court? this is like he same exact thing exept it can potentionaly effect almost everyone. It's not that you don't care if the "man" is watching you, it's the fact he thinks he should have the right.

Won't be saying that if 8 terrorist attacks happen because he stopped the tapping.
Google is going to have to comply no matter what, they will go to court and lose. Apparently one of the main things they are searching for is Child Porn, so Cheshire, No Child Porn for awhile.

yes but doing this could hurt google business by giving up their trade secrets or whatever the article said. And everyones already pissed with bush for approving a wire-tap without going to court. now he thinks he can take down a probably million dollar industry. I think it's good that google stood up to them maybe other search engines will do the same. i don't think bush will win in court. people won't give a damn that he's president. that'll most likely go against him.

He didn't get the tap approved because we have these little things that we like to describe as "covert." It's funny, when you see an American spy on a covert op in the movies he's a hero...in real life he's a scum bag. Odd isn't it?

if some government nerd wants to watch porn with me or listen to me have phone sex with my g/f, as long as i can feel a little better about my mom having to take the train into and out of downtown chicago every day and knowing theres even a slightly less chance that there could be a bomb on that train, that government nerd could be jerking off to it for all i care. i'll take less privacy+more safety anyday.

well i'm sure they could be a way for both. Again, it's not that you care if they do(which i would) but the fact that they think they have the right to do it.

Yeah yeah, you've said that like three times, we get the point. But your point is kinda flawed because they DO have the right to tap our phones and check Google and whatever.

They're the government. They're there to protect us, the people, in any way they can. Now, if they started just spying on us for reasons other than our safety, I might have a problem with it.
