mmbot related Hammer Overlay

I was wondering if the technique of of coloring that mmbot uses could also be used to make a semitransparent overlay that covers the path of your hammers. If some mob was in a tight spot, it'd be a quick positioning change by putting some part of the spiral over him. Can/has it be/been done?

all you need is a continues sequence which looks for the color not hard
