I haven't had aol before, but I imagine like many ISP's, you just have to call their automated thing and push the number for cancelation and your done, not that hard.

Before i had cable, i subscribed with aol for the 1000 free hours or something like that. After 950+ hours accumulated, i decided to cancel AOL before they start to charge my account. So i went ahead and call the customer service to cancel (you can't just punch in # to cancel your service). I think the dude on the line was some kind of an Indian or Mid-Eastern person. I could barely make out what he was saying. i said i wanted to cancel aol because i have cable already. he replies by saying, "ohhh, you got cable, huh? well, we can hook you up with aol broadband." well i was think like wtf i need aol broadband when i already have cable service. He kept on trying to convince me to stay. I felt kinda bad to cancel for some quite of time. he said that the first month is free so i decided to stay and cancel next month or so. After the call, i felt that i should have just swear him off and say i just want to cancel damn it. Same thing happen the next month, the customer service dude tried to persuade me to stay for another month. This time, i said no way dude, i ain't falling for this again. This went on for some quite of time. He finally let me cancel Smile. in conclusion, it was a B!tch to cancel AOL free service.

Their customer service is trained to offer you another month for free. You just have to be very stern and bold. No need to be rude, these people are only doing their job.

There are always 2 ways to do things: the civil, calm, "Yes I'm quite sure I'd like to cancel my subscription, but thanks for offering." or the ,as I like to call it, The Act A Damn Fool Way. Well you have to admit some people will not let it die. Those people provide an easy way to let out all your anger and eventually get something you want out of it.

Can I get an "Amen"?

AMEN. i canceled it took like 30minutes on the phone. the person kept lying saying "oh cox doesn't have all the services and pop-up blockers and shit like that ect." i was like, um...yeah they do. and ofcourse they offered free months of service. They have horrible customer service when it comes to canceling lol.

Of course they do. Look at it this way, would you make it easy and convenient if your boss was firing you? Same thing.
