Computer Showoff Thread

Since when does Dell let you OC in the BIOS? Usually computers bought in store have shitty BIOS. =\

I used to OC my vid card, RAM, and CPU about 20-30% more than original clock speeds but I found out my RAM can't handle it too well so I stopped until I get some new Corsair XMS shit. =\

the first computer they let do that was the XPS Gen5, which is what i have....if i waited 2 more weeks i coulda got dual 7800's in SLI when the gen6 came out Sad

edit: if u want i'll take a digital picture of the BIOS screen where it lets u do that, it don't even void the warrienty lol

Dell has become a less shitty company in these past few years.

How much did you pay for your X850?

i didnt pay anything for it, i made the computer for my dads cousin (by made i mean ordered) for when she got out of the hospital. she ended up dieing and left it to us in her will. i had a limit of 5k (USD) to spend on it, and i got it to 4,997$. the thing that cost the most was the screen though. and at the time of ordering, everything was the best that dell offered for the XPS except for the graphics card.

The fact that you all have these systems but most of the people on this forum are under 18 just makes me realize how spoiled you all are :/ Anyway, my computer's stats, I'm at work so no screen shot to post:

AMD Athlon64 3400+
1g DDR RAM PC3200
160gb SATA Maxtor harddrive
GeForce 7800 GT 256mb
Sound Blaster Audigy with Altec Lansing 5.1 surround sound speakers
CD+-R/+-RW drive
DVD+-R/+-RW CD+-R/+-RW drive
Win XP Home (waiting for Vista)
Logitech MX-5000 keyboard and mouse combo (really nice set)
17" View Sonic LCD monitor

Probably going to upgrade my processor soon and I can't remember exactly what mother board I have.

Believe me, if I could pay for my shit I would. Once I get a job I'm really going to go all out and buy all top of the line shit.

Dustoid, two things. First of all, WHY THE **** DID YOU PAY 2K JUST FOR A MONITOR? And if you payed 2-3K for it you still have another 1997-2997 dollars that you got ripped off on.

what you dont realize is sure, i could get that computer really cheaper than i payed, but this was 5-6 months ago, maybe more. 300-400 dollar graphics card, the dual core processor FROM 5-6 MONTHS AGO cost a shitload more than they do now, the $300 surround sound speakers, the 200 dollar sound card, it starts to add up

You still can't deny the fact that you payed for an overpriced shitty dual core opposed to a cheap, efficient dual core from AMD. And no, I'm NOT an AMD fan-boy, the same for Intel. Intel's single core kicks ass. Their dual cores fall far behind, though.

the day dell sells AMD products will be the day i never buy from dell, AMD can kiss my ass. and my computer will still leave yours in the dust Wink it really pisses me off when ppl go OMGZ U GOT INTEL DUAL CORE U FOOL, AMD SOO MUCH BETTER!!!!11! when their computer isnt even able to compete with mine

I never said it could, I just don't see why you had to waste an easy 500 dollars on just a processor alone. And the differece between me and you is that I don't follow Intel like a loyal servant. And I'm pretty sure Dell sells computers with AMD based on the fact that they now own Alienware which sell gaming computers which obviously means they use AMD. And in fact, you shouldn't buy from Dell in the first place... Dell sucks.

Dell actually does offer an AMD on atleast one of their high end systems that I saw but I have my computers put together as barebone then assemble the rest myself so I never buy from Dell or any of those shitty companies anyway. AMD is just far superior at the moment and Intel rearranges their motherboard configurations way too much so your ability to upgrade down the road goes to shit.

Because Intel has the name recognition, which they got when they made the P3 which was a great chip. It's like what happened with Sony...used to be pretty much one of the best you can by but now it's just decent at a higher price because you're paying for their name recognition. Also, I'm not a fan of Macs...oddly NVidia cards tend to have better clock speeds than ATI cards yet they use ATI so it just means that they wanted the deal with Apple more and gave a better offer or the others declined.
