The Twin Jesters
A coin spins, endlessly it whirls,
Its rotations lost in time.
And from the shadows step a boy and a girl,
Voices united and speaking in rhyme.
On the coin spins, endlessly forever.
The coin rings keenly its endeavor.
And around spin the twins, the jesters of chance,
Laughing and circling and making jests,
Waiting for the coin to end its dance.
Whom will it choose and is it for the best?
The boy or the girl, bad luck or good?
Choosing blithely, not caring whom,
The wail of fate slows to a stop.
Bad luck smiles and the coin lands with a plop.
