do you think Barry Bonds deserves his 714 home runs and a spot in the hall of fame? I think the season where he was speculated using steriods should be deducted from his 714. No matter how juiced up he was, he still put the bat to the ball, but then again steriods are cheating. for all you who aren't in the usa and might not know who Barry Bonds is basicly he's a really good baseball player who people suspected was using steroids. he was never tested(i don't think they were manditory) so there's no hard proof. he just hit his 714 career homerun and is now tied in 2nd with babe ruth(best baseball player ever) for career homeruns. He also broke the single season homerun record(was thought to use steroids too).
Do you think Bonds deserves his title or a spot in the hall of fame for basebaal? and please none of those "baseball sucks" posts plz.

i thought i posted before but i guess someone didnt approve. Now bonds definatly deserves to be in the hall of fame. i do however believe that he did infact take steroids and he knew about there consumption definatly. But even with assistance from steroids or whatever it definatly takes skill and talent to hit like he did. He is a great player indeed but i would never put him on a pedastool with such players as Hank aaron and such. I believe the intentions between bonds and players such as aaron were aimed in a completly different direction

Well if he hasn't been tested "hard" for steriods..then it's his spot in history.

Steroids give you more power, not accuracy. Accuracy is what makes up 75% of the hit.

i guess you're right about the accuracy so he does deserve something. he most definately is a cheater but i'm sure babe ruth and lots of other famous players were hardcore cheaters too. they just have such a golden image because we make icons out of them. it's not like he pounded 700 home runs in 5 years or something, he has been playing for 20 years or so, so i guess it's about the same as hank aaron. he never had a 60 home run season he was consistent for the whole time.
by the way, is now a good time to start buying up barry bonds rookie cards or is it too later? have the prices already gone through the roof?

pff the prices are still under 200 dollars the last i checked. mark mcquires rookie card skyrocketed as soon as he hit like 50hr. its funny actually.
and um, i didnt think steroids became popular until like the late 50s and early 60s? and i think ruth died in 48. Imma go ahead and assume that ruth wasnt on steroids.
and bartender, bonds was very accurate early on in his career. are you telling me it took him 15 seasons before he could accuratly find the fence?

Yeah, he deserves the record without the damn asterisks
Steriods weren't illegal back then so every player could have been juiced
But the bastard lied, i think everyone knows he should just come clean
Giambi was juiced but is forgiven because he admitted to it
Bonds was already good before the riods but i don't know if he will get in the hall of fame
Another thing is steriods builds muscle so it helps him hit the ball harder and further but as to batting average and everything. Alot of pitchers were juiced and could throw harder than they can now so his average is legit..
But he hasn't even been proved guilty, just looks likely by power numbers and size that he was on steriods.

He was tested here recently, but two years ago was when Congress was going through the motions of testing players. Personally I think tests should be a monthly deal, for christs sake these people are making millions doing what they love, I think they can cope with a brief blood/urine/feces test to continue playing.
I mean, my father doesn't make anything near what a professional sports player does and he still legeally gets drug tested every three months (state job).
Still, it wasn't that he was found guilty of taking steroids, he was never tested when the founder of BALCO was being covicted of distribution, the same man who Barry allegedly purchased steroids from.
He shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame, there is no glory in cheating.

Ingested? Er.. I thought Anabolic Steroids have to be injected into the bloodstream and on nearly a daily basis to get the effects most professional players desire...

In 2003, Bonds' trainer Greg Anderson gave the slugger undetectable steroids called "the cream" and "the clear." Bonds says he was told the cream was a soothing balm for arthritis. The clear was allegedly flaxseed oil to battle fatigue. These were supposedly needed to combat the wear and tear on his body when the Giants played a day game after a night game.
According to Victor Conte, founder of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO), the cream and the clear contain steroids. Bonds has openly admitted to using them. However, no charges have been filed against Bonds despite the fact that obtaining steroids and human growth hormone without a doctor's prescription is illegal.

Got it tap, TY for the link. I just remember hearing sound bites where Bonds was getting pissed at journalists asking him about using Steroids, but I guess he's fessed up since then. But I'll say it again, atheletes on steroids don't deserve to go down into the history books. I don't care if there is already people who were able to squeeze into the Hall of Fame, we have to draw a line somewhere and start making reforms instead of trying to follow examples of the past.

I would be fine with Barry Bonds going into the Hall of Fame if he would just fess up already. I mean everyone knows he takes it so why doesnt he just come on out with it??
