Favorite Impressionist (or otherwise) ?
#1
I personally love the art of Manet and Bourgeaureu (His name is difficult to spell correctly, shut up. X3) Does anybody here have a favorite artist from the Impressionists, Age of Enlightenment, Renaissance, etc? (Basically any period when individual thought and art began to/was blooming.)

Vincent Van Gogh is mine

Vincent Van Gogh is pretty incredible. His brush strokes are very unique; not much art can properly emulate his.

I am huge fan of Monet. Fun fact for you about Manet, though he is considered an Impressionist artist he would refuse to associate himself with the genre.

To continue the facts on that, his art actually came a tad before the Impressionists. . .when they came along, he might've seen them as "childish", perhaps? Much of his art WAS Impressionism, so there must've been a reason to his decline/denial.

And regarding Carrot Top, I said "Impressionist" artist. Tongue Unless Carrot Top is some sort of epitaph for one of those artists, I think that counts towards invalidity.

The post was reported probably because it was spam...

Manet was actually friends with many imppressionists of the time. His work is sometimes considered early modern but he refused to be around the others in the impressionist group because they were opposed to a "salon system" so he would have his own exhibitions rather than displaying his work with the others.

Pah, it's good to see there are some out there, educated in the history of art.

One thing I can't help noticing about Monet, is that he repeatedly portrays the same subject matter; the tulips, or the bridge in his garden. I wonder if he just liked to paint those things in an attempt to jump his own standards or...?

They were just things that sparked inspiration in him I believe. In the times I've sat writing I find myself constantly drawn to similar themes over and over because they are just what brings creativity out in me.

Hey, whatever brings out your art, by all means, don't stray from the path. However, when straying back to the same subject, you should find a new, creative way to portray it. That's how Monet kept every painting fresh and interesting.
