I got scammed into giving my login info away on closed battlenet (I know, maybe i had it coming for being such a noob... but yeah I've only been online with the game for about a month) and I need help getting my info back. The guy learned my login info and logged in and then proceeded to change the password. I used the password recovery tool because I'm pretty sure he forgot to register my account to his email or something but it keeps giving me an error after i reply to the verification email it sends (i can post it if someone so wishes). I've heard of getting any account's password with a password program in about 30 minutes or less, so I'd like to use this on myself.. on my own account so that I can get back in.
If anyone has any useful information or suggestions relating to this, please don't hesitate to comment. Thanks in advance.

I... don't know what a Bruteforce is. Are new people not allowed to request help?

Bruteforce is the program you're talking about. It uses rapid password entering to crack into accounts, which can be used for many, many illegal things.
Even if any of our forum elites had a working bruteforce with all the utilities to use it, you would not get access to it or help because of your basic anonymity.
I'm sorry, but your account is gone. Live and learn.

I didn't realize I was giving my info away. It was one of those scams where they ask to see "your rank" by typing
/dnd rank (account name) (password)
What I didn't know was that actually set my account to an away message, so he whispered me and it auto-replied with the info he wanted. Foolish, I know...
What do you mean the passsword programs are packed with keyloggers? you mean the software developer will log my cd-key if i run the prog or something?
I used blizz's email support utility and am awaiting a reply.

Ahh, I see. Sorry for my ingorance in this case. If I were a reputable person around here, would the chance of having a forum elite use the utility on my account for me be greater?

Yes. However I don't believe any of us have one anyway.

Ahh. Is that simply because of its sheer illegal nature or is it a lot of work or...?

I would guess it is a little of both. Most people have no problem running the brute for themselves, which is understandable. Some would charge a fee because it is a lot of work to get a decent password library going.
Personally, I wouldn't have bruteforced for anyone that I didn't know myself.

Ahh. Yeah, that's all pretty understandable. That's kind of a shame, but I guess I'll just have to deal. Thanks for being so informative and not-critical of me for being somewhat of a noob.
if anyone IS feeling particularly nice today though.... 2thumbsup

well, i mean, kind of. to some this isn't much, but to a guy like me it was a lot:
shako
passion phase blade
fortitude armor
jah, pul, io runes (JUST about to make dream shield)
andariel's visage
phoenix shield
marrowwalks
+3 fire skills ammy
dwarf star ring
ravenfrost
gheed charm
hellfire torch
and some other things on my mule files.
it's just really annoying because it has taken me this month of playing to get to level 77 with one character and to get all those items through trades and whatnot.
i know it takes more experienced players a lot less time to reach such a level, but that was good for me, i think.

Well lets even pretend that someone did bruteforce for u.... a scammer would have grabbed the gear and left you naked. They would run the chance of you getting your account back through password recovery.... even if you get your account back your gear is long gone, cuz they certainly dont need ur lvl. 77......
Sorry abvout your luck, but i think we have all been there....
