I don't know what you can afford, but I'll just post my build

ES LIGHT SORC

Stats:

Str: Just enough for gear with +str items and shit
Dex: Nothing
Vita: 1/3
Energy: 2/3

Gear:

Helmet: Shako Ber'd
Armor: CoH Dusk
Belt: Arach
Gloves: Trangs
Boots: Sandstorm
Wep 1: Hoto
Wep 2: Cta
Wep 3: Precast 2H staff with +3 ES and this runeword which gives +3 ES and +2 sorc skills or so
Shield 1: Spirit (needs to be 35 FCR or you wont reach the 125 FCR bp)
Shield 2: Spirit
Rings: SoJs
Amu: I'd say a nice rare sorc ammy with skills, str and res...

Inventory:

Perf torch, perf anni, 9 light skillers with life, 2 5 FHR/5 all res charms, rest 20/17 scs

no, this is wrong, for hardcore you need full tals set and stormshield. and dont put points in energy...only newbs put points in energy. orhov what kind of sorc do you want? light, fire, cold?

I'd do an orber/ES for HC. Once I had telekenisis maxed I've only died once, and that was when i was AFK at baal run.. Freggin.. Poisoned down to 1 health, and then hit by a single bolt of council's lightening...

yes almost is right, that would be your best bet...if you do hybrids you will just end up too weak at anything.

try out an orb sorc, max these skills, in this order: frozen orb, cold mastery, ice bolt(orb synergy), telekenisis(eshield synergy). then if you level enough to have remaining points put 1-2 more in eshield and the rest in frozen armor

best gear you can get for HC is full tals set with stormshield. get CTA+spirit on switch if you can, eth treks for your boots are your best bet, soj/bk combo on rings, definitely get a torch and anni and some cold skillers if you can.

skills, your going to need like 20-30 in strength to be able to use stormshield depending on your gear, and everything else will go into vitality.

merc, you are going to want a prayer merc with insight weapon. the synergy bonus of prayer+mediation from insight gives you unbelieveable healing. literally you can go from 1 life to full in 3-5 seconds. give him fort armor if you can afford it and like andys helm or a dream.

i dont like blizz personally...doesnt hit things often enough...blizz and orb actually do about the same damage per unit time even though blizz has greater shown damage.

cheaper gear huh? hmm....get yourself a shako, +3 cold ammy, skulders armor, occy, spirit shield, frostburn, some rare rings with some fcr and all resists, goldwrap if you want to mf, or else try to get like string of ears or something, silkweave boots

Mike, you're wrong here. There is nothing wrong with points in energy as an ES tank, especially if you plan on maxing Warmth or having loads of mana. ES essentially converts damage that would go directly to your HP to your mana. With lots of mana (say.. 3k or wahtever you get with this build), plus maxed out warmth, you will always have mana and life.

Eh, if you are poor then you put points into Energy instead of Vita. If you are rich and run with a merc that doesn't die all the time, you can afford to keep Energy at base levels.

Typically I put about 100 Vita into my sorcs becuase poison damage goes through ES, Andy's poison would eat you alive if you didn't have full res.

my sorces always have es and they never need points in mana...you guys just arent building right if you need that much in energy

Blood, if you are using insight then yes, I do agree with you on putting nothing into energy. But for people who cant afford bugged eforts and CoH's, our mercs die quickly, and thus we can't benefit from the Meditation aura. Also typically on low-income builds we don't have as many + skills, so our total points in the warmth skill is also quite low, and on top of that the attribute & skill benefits gained from torch and anni aren't there.

So it's far more beneficial for low-cost builds to have more points into mana, so ES isn't constantly mana-burning you, and you have enough mana points to effectively teleport without quaffing potions.

Every ****in sorc has ES, but it only absorbs like...40% of the damage? Real ES sorcs absorb 95% of the damage taken and that needs a HUGE amount of mana AND a high telekinesis lvl...

My only suggestion to you is, have fun with it. It doesn't really matter what build you go, your main bet would be trying not to get hit. Assuming that you probably will get hit, it's good to have Max Block, Full Res, and if u want... absorb. I have max block, full res, cold and lightning absorb, and 53% dr (they say it caps at 50... i say... u can't make Ber give only 5% )

My gear... is changed as needed.

I'd suggest the same for you especially if you have a loader.

I like to switch between CoH and Vipermagi armor depending on what difficulty im in or what type of character i am dueling against.

I also switch from shako to Nightwings and Hoto to Fathom or wizardspike for the same reasons.

If you want high damage output, and you are not going to be teleporting to baals, then feel free to gear up with some crazy damage gear, but make sure to keep your resistances at least mid - high. keep your DR mid - max and try to stay safe.

Im level 97. HCL Sorc =X.

Im Blizz, but i have 1 point in orb because it's so much fun to run around orbing in normal and nightmare. Also it's very useful against souls in hell.

As i said before, try to have fun with your sorceress. If everyone were to follow the same guide... then we'd have a lot of boring sorceresses O_O =].
