Help with smiter
#1
Ok, my smiter seems to suck. I believe I've done everything right with him, I just lack a grief. If the grief is my only problem, what is a good alternative weapon for a smiter?

This is what I have so far:

Helmet: Guillames
Amulet: Highlords
Weapon: EBotD
Shield: Exile (+res)
Gloves: Laying of the Hands
Belt: Nosferatus
Boots: Gorerider
Rings: Raven and Dwarf

please post in correct forums from now on

if you cant get a grief, try an asteons or however its spelled. anything that adds a couple skill points is an ok alternative if you cant get a grief

It's PvM, straight up uber killer which explains LoH over Dracs.

I built a zealot to use the gear until I get a grief, and he does pretty well at level 84 vs ubers. But I know the smiter will be better since he will hit every time.

I can't seem to find astreons anywhere, any other weapons or does someone have one? Also, how much does astreons go for in USEast NL.

Additional Comment:
So, which of these weapons would be best until I can get a grief:

Death
Doom
Last Wish
Phoenix

last wish > grief
death is just pointless..
so is pheonix.
doom just isnt good enough
btw loh doesnt help vs ubers. +%ed to demon doesnt affect smite, and neither does any ed as a matter of fact (other than fanactism)

It doesnt? But I thought ubers were classified as demons so the 350 should do something...? Meh, well, I still have dracs on my hands. Any other suggestions for gloves besides Dracs?

well ur right about the gloves, except that for the specific skill SMITE it doesnt work, its like deadly strike, it doesnt do anything with smite.
u could always use bloodfists, or some crafted gloves.

Does the ED from Last Wish affect smite? If not I'll save money and get a lower ED one.

So, nobody know or do people just hardly check this forum?

Additional Comment:
Also, I read here (http://www.blizzsector.co/paladin/32719-...-help.html) that grief + fortitude = 2k damage (or so), is this true?

If so, I currently wear a CoH and I'm planning on getting a Last Wish, but I can get my hands on a fortitude as well with my Last Wish, would this have the near same affect or am I fine with a CoH? There is no way I can afford grief right now, way too expensive for me.

i said this a million ****ing times, fort does not add smite dmg, i tested it out personally on the realms myself. PLUS even theoretically it wouldnt work, since the ed from ur gear is not directly added to ur dmg, but actually to ur weapons dmg, not ur shields
the ed on your weapon does not affect smite either, so yeha u can get a super low ed last wish, doesnt really matter. the might, cb and fade from lastwish are actually the only reasons u want to use it

just use dracs for gloves there best and i would prolly change the belt to a tgods for the light absorb

Actually, ed on the shield itself will add damage to smite but weapons/gloves/armors etc with ed wont add any damage to smite. I would stick to dracs because the double chance of life tap is well worth it and will save your ass alot more than you think.

Also, i would stick to verdungos if you dont have max lightning resist with Meph's conviction on you because if you dont tgods wont be much help at all, if you need more resist get a treachery a very cheap armor to make go out and get hit by some monsters for level 15 fade on being struck (60 all resist and 15 extra dr is always very helpful)

use crafted crushing blow ias gloves. also, this problem about ed has been brought up 1000 times. search the older forums. there is a bug that screws with the damage multiplier so ed damage isn't shown (just like the grief damage bug). i don't use fort and my smiters damage is around 2800 plus grief. i use enigma for pvp and coh for pvm and i rarely die. in fact, i never die in pvm.

also, the life tap on exile is plenty. it's seems like my smiter casts life tap every 2 seconds.

fort doesnt do anything its not even an option NEVER USE IT lol and the noobs that goes OMFG FORT ADDS DAMAGE IDITOT! they are like..horribly wrong..ignore them...to reach 2k use 9 combat gc torch anni i get 2.7-3.2k with exile.

get p ap coh or btals, although btals may duped, but btals is good because o its 25%dr, there be no need for coa which requires vast amounts of str.
