There's a buttload of problems with the differences in servers. You've got overpopulation on some, population imbalances, and on any of the older servers, you've got insane lag roughly around peak hours. But you shouldnt feel any of that pain levelling up.

Hmm, blood, I like to usually play on servers everyone is on.. such as Illidan, Medivh.. etc. If you go on Illidian I can probably explain things to u but I dont have items to give as for I deleted all my lvl 60s (2) and starting out new again.

Ok,

Questing = Best way to level up

If its hard to find places for the quests you need to do, Here will help you, just enter in the quest name.

Party up in groups for quest, even know you can get more xp by yourself, you can also die. So partying up is always the best thing to do IMO
---
BUT some of the quests for your first character as soon as you start, such as going to people and talking to them are very easy so dont get a party for that O.o

When your a bit high level like 12+ start getting higher levels with you to run instances.

When your level 19 you can go out and start ganking, my advice is wait till your a little higher, as level 40's from a different alliance as you can kill you easily.
------------------------------------

Money

There are three types of money in the game.
Copper
Silver
Gold
Gold is the best out of all of them as for getting you ALOT of better armor. And for later use gold can get you mounts, ( pets you can ride on, gets you to places faster )

Gold is also used for getting new skills that are good and useful.

Copper and Silver are good for getting new starting skills.

GOLD is great. You can also get enchants on your items, which will add special effects to your enchanted item, plus making your character look alot better!

Also there are auction houses. The only thing that is going to get you anywhere is auction houses is gold. You get very good items, which I will be explaining now.
-------------
Items

There are poor items, and very good items.

Poorest items in the game are item names that have their name in gray, but they still can be useful.

Gray and White named items are useful when starting up.
Now here we get to green named items. Theese are good when your in the 5-12 level. But can be used when higher. My level 13 is wearing all green items right now. They can be good.

Blue and Purple are the best items in the game. If you know what to put on your character it will own alot. Once level 60, all your items should be blue and purple.

A bad example: If your level 34 or so, and your still wearing white/green/gray colored items. You need new items!!! Good luck with your items.
---------

Mounts..

Mounts are pets that you can get to ride on to get you to places faster. They cost 100 gold. And then you can get your mount updated for more gold, not sure how many to make it run even faster and have glows and other shit on it.
---------

Guilds & Friends

When your new I suggest you find a guild to be in. With alot of people, or you can start your own of course.. go to the guild master and get people to sign your guild charter to start your own.

Friends.. well you dont need them as you have a guild with alot of people in it.. or you should.
You can get a friend like if one of your friends on this site cant get into a guild Lets take example: (blood angel has a guild, I cant get in because I dont have the right character, blood angel adds me to his friend list.)

Simple as that.

You should know, You cannot talk to friends in different realms and cannot add people from different realms to your friend list.
-------
Realms..

Well, my only suggestion to you here is pick a realm with a high population.. hence the reason of alot of people.. = more guilds, more fun.

Dont pick a cheasy low population like I did when I was new, ( e.g. Alexstrasza )

i picked a low pop realm for now because i have a terrible connection at my grandmas. if i decide to keep playing after my 14 days i may move to a higher pop when i go back to school and have good internet

Whatever you do, don't make either a Warrior or a Priest as your first toon. These are the more important classes in the game and you'll have a lot of responsibility.

One of my first toons was a Warrior and I knew nothing about party build-ups or what it means to be a tank. If you start out as like a Rogue or a Mage (which only really need to manage aggro [agression from monsters, how inclined they are to attack you instead of someone else] and sheep/sap) or something with less resonsibility you'll have more time to learn the mechanics of the game.

Just some advice.

question: can the mining+bs skill combination result in the creation of coins? i realize it would take some work, but it seems like it should be possible...anyone tried to figure it out?

No, you cannot create gold/silver/copper coins.
