I think you have to buy it, just like you had to buy t he guild wars expansion.. the only thing that stumps me if you have to buy it is do u have to set up all ur credit card info and stuff.

ghey...and its not going to be out for like 3 more months so idk if i can wait to buy it plus wow together or not. would probably be cheaper that way

you can, of course, just not buy it... yet. I think you're a noob (used as in new player sense), and non expo players will still be able to play with expo players. However, non-expo players will not be allowed to reach level 70 nor will they be able to go to massive new island or new instances. You probably wouldn't want to go to those new instances until you've gotten tier 2/3 gear. And that will take forever. seriously.

ORLY? noexp will be able to play with exp? then i wont buy it...maybe later when it gets cheaper and i'll actually be able to take advantage of the new stuff...although i would like to make a blood elf...kinda crazy that they made them horde when they were alliance chars in wc3

It's not going to be out for a long time, I predict early next year, if that early even. Even though you will be able to play with others who don't have the expansion, those without it will not be able to level to 70, or experience any of the new content.

Every release date in history has been estimated. Knowing Blizzard the expansion won't be ready for another 8 months. It's not even in beta testing yet.
