the duos are okay..but i'm not happy with them. my uncle heard the same and got 2 kinds. the core 2 duo and the core 2 extreme. they're both built the same. they got the same stats but his pentium D is still faster lol. What is confusing is he paid 1500 for each and only paid 550 for an amd athlon 64 x2 4800 processor that had customized etching to put the cache equal to the duo and surpasses it. the core 2 and the extreme are 2.93ghz, 1066mhz fsb and 4mb cache. the amd i wanted and now got from him is 3.14ghz, 2000mhz fsb and 4mb cache. downside we've seen to the core 2 so far is it heats very easily and even worse if you attempt to clock it.
he was dumb enough to buy an nvidia card and now regrets it. he got an e-mail about ati's new card which should be released in october or something like that. its a 1gig 1 card that can be dongled to 2 gigs 2 cards and its ati. we got curious about it and he called. their pipelines are 33% bigger than the nvidias 7950. the x1900xt on the other hand is equal to their new card based on pipeline and can also be used for firewire and/or pvr.
