( you might wunna be 10 grade or higher for this)
"everyone has the right to take part in the government of his [or her] country" Universal Declaratoin of Human Rights United Nations, 1948
People living in groups recognize the need for government, or a system for exercising authority. for much of history, people lived under authoritarian rulers, such as kings. with the rise of democratic ideas, people, came to demand a role in govering themselfs.
My topic right now is about DEMOCRACY.
As everyone knows the Greeks started it all.. yes they came up with democracy. Solon ( one of the wise men of Greece ) in 594 B.C Solon respected statesman, passed a law outlawing slavery based on dept and canceled the farmers' depts. this simple act enabled Athens to avoid revolution or civil war.
Pow right there one man did this.. yeah that far back wich is impressive really.

Solon also introduced the legal concept that any citizen could bring charges against wrongdoers..
pow right there once again Solon strikes.

Cleisthenes ( another one of the 7 wise men of Greece)

Known as the founder of demacracy in Athens. he basicly balanced power between the rich and the poor.

Pericles

strengthened greek demacracy by increasing the number of paid public officials and by paying Jurors. this enabled poorer citizens to participate in the government.

about 1000 to 500 b.c the Romans ( latins ) battles Greeks for control of the Italian peninsula.. ofcourse the Romans won. at the begining of about 600 b.c series of kings rules Rome. then in 509 b.c the Romans over threw a king and started the GOVERMENT.. o yeah...calling it a REPUBLIC ( not starwars dude )
REPUBLIC: Is a form of gervenment in which power rests with citizens who have the right to elect the leaders who make governmental decisions. pow simple as it is. and ofcourse only MALES COULD DO THAT females had no voice what so ever back then...Greeks had laws eveyrone had laws but ROMANS were the first to put them on stone, paper what ever it was. they put it up all over the city Smile so thats a big one right there first to write em down.
then after romans started to spread own everyone in wars they started taking ideas from the greeks T_T yeah.. they took the idea of TWO high branches branches Smile all citizens had the right to equal treatment under the law
a person who considered innocent until proven guilty .. WE ALL HEAR THIS ONE.. yeah Romans wrote it down but Greeks had it first

then Romans stole the Greeks idea of the Gods and such w/e romans own3d the greeks

but yeah thats just about very first Demacracy im not starting on the USA and all that bullshit

p.s i can helpne1 with history hw Smile i love history
