I like Family Guy better, but I have to give credit to the Simpsons. The Simpsons was an awesome, original show that pioneered cartoon satire of American culture. Family Guy did take a lot of Simpsons jokes, but they did improve on them. In fact, I remember some show plots were very similar.

It seems the newere episoes from either of them are lackluster, but I would have to go with the Family Guy.

Something that really turned me off of the Simpsons is when they were briefly in the news becuase the voice actors (mind you not real actors) were complaining that actors on other less popular shows were making more, and it was a stupid margin.

Family Guy has gone from good to crap in recent years, while The Simpsons have been great for the first 14 seasons or so, and very good from then until present.

Simpsons is just old school humor, if you know what I mean.

Family Guy is up to date with current things, and its just the random things they say that is the funniest.
If anyone saw the new episode Sunday night, "I'm gonna make him pay out of his ass. No if, ands, or buts. I'm gonna be real anal about this....Sphincter!"

Simpsons is built towards a more mature audience, you actually have to have knowledge to understand a large portion of the jokes on the Simpsons. Family Guy is just random shit thrown together. If you've ever seen the South Park episode where they make fun of Family Guy when they go to Fox, they portray it perfectly. Family Guy will die out in a few years, Simpsons is the longest running show of all time I believe, that says enough as it is (Yes, I will agree that the older stuff was funnier, but after about 20 seasons, you kind of start running out of things)
