Windows Firewall Problem

windows firewall is permanetly shut down for me. while this isnt a problem, none of my other computures can access the file or print sharing. when the firewall was working, file and print sharing did happen. do any of yall no how to turn it back on? ill give you a screen shot of what i mean, b/c its not as simple as clicking.



the reason why it is like that is b/c i had an aim trojan that screwed up my computer. one of the things it did was kill my firewall. i removed the trojan but as you can see my firewall is dead. i need help restarting it... is there some way to do so with out reformating?

System restore? Have you tryed doing that, unless its been going for awhile, plus i never hear of anyone using this firewall, all my friends say it sucks bro.
Just get a dif firewall if you can, but that should get fixed still.
It would seem like something is blocking it or shut it down, or you deleted a file that you shouldnt have X_X

well like stated above. that firewall truely is rubbish. there's no point in even having it. but since you say your having problems printing, ect..

this is something that should get fixed.

run the antivirus scan. it should give you a clue as to what is happening.

http://www.safer-networking.org/ go here for spybot search and destroy.. update it, run it, blah blah.

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ go here for adaware. update it, run it, ect..

hopefully that'll give you some idea of what is happening to your PC. actually i would get spybot & adaware first then run panda's virus scan.

make sure you have a good anti-virus. like AVG or Avast. then if you get your windows firewall running agian. disable the piece of crap and get a good free one. like "sygate" or "zoneAlarm"

if all else fails. you can go to spywareinfo.com
where you'll get "hijackthis". go to one of the stickies. they'll tell you what to do. post the logfile and wait for one of those kind gents to help you.

add/remove will fix it. just remove components and then add them again. you can do it off the cd as well.

It is not that bad. It works as a good NAT firewall, almost as good as a router. The problem is, while unless the hacker goes into your house and removes the router, only windows firewall can be shut down in a few seconds by hacker or a malicious program = )

If you don't have a router I suggest it.
