Which are a faster CPU?
#1
Which one is faster and better between these 2 CPUs?

Intel Premium 4 3.2Ghz
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.14Ghz

Is the second one faster and better because its the newer version or something like that or is it the first one because or it's higher Ghz? I don't know much about computers so i just want to know before i buy a new one.

CORE 2 DUO! BIG TIME!

It is not all about speed, it is about efficency and performance. The Core2s are the BEST chips on the market. They beat everything out by both AMD and Intel, and wether or not AMD will beat them in their spring release, who knows.

Breif history:

The Pentium 4s and up were designed to attempt to guess what the user will do before they do it. This is a smart idea, but it failed. It would mess up far too often, pre-process something, and then have to dump it all and start over when the user does not do what it expected him\her to do.

At this same time, Intel had some people working on the old Pentium 3s. They wanted to make them faster, more efficient, less heat problems... (same as the Million Dollar Man). They would not use the defected guessing method the other Pentium's use.

They released the Core Duo, which was a good chip, but not groundbreaking. When they released the Core2 Duo it took the market by shock, and it really is the best on the market.

Little guys, far away from Intel's HQ (in like Singapore or something) release the best chip on the market. You gotta love stories like that = )

depends on what kind of p4. i've seen some off market ones that fly as fast as core2. but they are hard to get or oem style. i'm still waiting for the price drops. theres word of anothe duo release with an open interface which allows smoother clocking (they got the idea from the amd x64). hopefully its soon cause if the amd is released, i'm getting that one, bit hard to pass on a 3.4k buffer and a cache 2x than the duo.
