exceptional unique item cube recipes - ladder only

I recently transmuted the exceptional unique Toothrow Sharktooth Armor in the horadric cube using a Ko, Lem and perfect diamond.
The result was a substantial increase in defense of 756 points, all other attributes remaining the same.

My question now becomes:
What would be the result of rerolling the exceptional unique Headstriker Battlesword. The recipe requires a Pul, Lum and gem,...which I am not worried about wasting,...but before I find these runes and try it,...I would like to know what will happen.

If armors goes up in defense,....do weapons go up in damage?

Yes, you can upgrade weapons as well, however the recipe is slightly different.
[SIZE=-1]1 Lum Rune + 1 Pul Rune + 1 Perfect Emerald + Exceptional Unique Weapon = Elite Version of Weapon [/SIZE]

All it does is upgrade the base armor, however beware of the fact that requirements will go up as well.

Yes, I have been trying to trade for the Pul and Lum in anticipation of a huge jump in damage on the Headstriker sword which carries a high percentage of chance of deadly strike or ..."double damage",...as I am told is the actual result of deadly strike. I just wonder though, whether the double damage applies to only the weapon ..or ,...to my frenzy barbs total damage! I am inclined to believe that total damage doubles given that deadly strike appears on other non-weapon items like the Highlords Wrath amulet as well as weapons.
I am on the brink of a second assault on Uber Tristam where my bonemancer buddy and I got our butts kicked pretty bad last time.
My headstriker has a damage range of 40 - 160+,..... but hits as if it is 80 to 320. If I could double that again it would exceed my btds and famines.

No, your Headstriker will not do 80-320. Upgrading something does not double it's damage, it will simply upgrade the base weapon to it's elite counterpart.

Deadly Strike doubles the damage of your weapon, not your overall damage.
