am i suppose to leave my stash empty? the only thing i have in my regular inventory is 3 columns filled on the right side. but my stash is almost filled. should that matter?

okay i've cleared out my stash to contain only the cube and a tome of identity. and my regular inventory only has 2 colums on the right side filled up, and i still get the "failed while recording inventory." my windows theme is classic also. argh so frustrated.
