When I log on to Battle.Net it says 'Unable to identify application version'.

i'm not sure exactly what to do to make sure it's in the directory and what not, so can anyone please provide me with step by step direction?

A. You are running D2Loader from outside your Diablo II directory. Check that the D2Loader .exe is in your Diablo II directory and that your shortcut to Diablo II has the correct 'Start In' directory. If you continue to get this error, your Game.exe is likely damaged or the wrong version.

how do i know if i have the wrong game.exe, and if so. how do i get the correct version?

yo this happened to me and was resolved by putting the loader zip file in the d2 folder and 'extracting here' , opposed to dragging it in from somewhere else.
