Retrieving things after recycling bin

Is there any way to retrieve things after you've deleted them from the recycling bin? Is nothing ever totally gone from your computer? I did something really stupid and I want to get it back.

yes, as long as you didn't close it out after you have deleted the file. i am pretty sure you did close it out, but you could have just done edit > undo.

yes. i am sure that there are ways to do it. but, they would never tell us regular consumers how to do it. the fbi has ways. probably some data recovery centers can do it as well. it never is completely gone. it is there. somewhere.
