I recently was given a dope cpu, and put it in my room. My friend (whom lives a ways away) brought over a portable hard-drive and I transfered my downloaded music, and my d2files and such. But I forgot to transfer my CD's. Some, I can just re-rip. But in some cases, I had ripped a CD off a friend, and we are no longer friends / ex girlfriend has a good portion of my CD's / etc. The other cpu is just in the other room, can I use limewire / ss / file hosting web sites to transfer between the two cpu? Est. Size - 450 MB

I read your post 4 times and have no idea the story behind you trying to transfer your music. However if you want to transfer music between two computers, (not cpu) there are various methods.
1. One would be using a flashdrive, by plugging it in a usb drive, and drag and drop the music onto it, remove it, then drag and drop it onto your other computer. Flash drives can be very inexpensive. If you don't know what a flashdrive is. USB flash drive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
2. You can also burn it onto a Cd.
3. You can archive all your music into a .rar or .zip file. Send it over aim or other instant messaging program.

Last I knew, "cpu" was just "computer" for lazies. -shrugs- I don't have a portable flash drive. I'm thinking #3 might work. As long as I can figure out how to archive? Thanks Kaze.

Maybe you do call it cpu, I just haven't heard people say that though.
You use a program called winrar. Which everybody uses to extract files that are compressed. You download and install. Then click on the folder and press archive. If you want to "unarchive" (extract), you just right click on it and extract.
Why do we have to archive/compress it? I have no clue. But if we don't it won't let us send it over files via Aim and other online stuff.

No problem. And yes it will take some time if you send it over aim. There is also a method where you connect the two via a wire. I don't know about that one though. So good luck.

Yeah. I have a 4gb Sandisk Cruzer on sale for only $50. It may be this cheap now as I bought it a few months ago.

Id imagine both pc's have LAN yes? Spend $5 on a short bit of network cable. Either that or you can get USB cable for transfering between 2 pc's aswell these days.

Using a network cable is not very common to me. Does it require your two computers to be physically connected? That alone may be difficult. Even if that is not needed, it is still easier to purchase a $15 dollar 512mb flash drive. As it is so simple to use. Take it to school and print out documents etc. Drag item, drop into flashdrive and pull out your computer. Done deal.

spit, i believe you have to use a crossover cable if you want to hook up two computers directly right? anyways, it could be more troublesome that way anyway

Nothing easier than networking 2 pc's mate. Xp or Vista. Just plug the cable in each pc and they will sort themselves out. Only thing that f***s me off is Wireless networking in Vista :|
I just buy 50-100m rolls of network cable and packets of plugs and make my own cables in the lengths i want. Easiest and cheapest way.. Can make patch leads, crossover leads whatever you want.

Okay. But I just saw an ad in Microcenter that my dad brought home. 1Gb flash drive $9.99. blank:. Flash drive, is going to be easier than networking. The hardest part is probably plugging it in while bending over my back trying to plug it in my computer with a low table.
