i need help building a computer
#21
Make sure to triple check the compatibility with each piece to the motherboard and power supply. The last thing you want to do is wind up trying to assemble this machine and realize something vital doesn't go where you want it to. The feeling of regret and self doubt explode in your face as you realize you've wasted possibly hundreds of dollars because the company is too anal to let you return the product.

Just speaking from personal experience however..

plus it has to be fast becasuse i run multiple editing and looping and recording programs at a time and they take up alot of mem usage

if thats the case.. i recommend a better cpu, like maybe dual core. and def more ram. they way you can save money is to cut back on the psu. you wont be needing a 600 wt psu unless your sling. i would try this one. Newegg.com - Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W Power Supply 115/230 V - Retail

and your motherboard.. HOLD ON. your video card wont work with it. your video card is AGP, but the motherbaord is PCI-E. here is one that is pretty good judging from the reviews. and it is compatible with your cpu. Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
but then this puts your ram and video card incompatible, so let me show some that will be and are pretty good. btw, if your are serious about sound and video recording, you should use creative sound blaster, but those are pretty expensive. of course you can use the sound that comes with the motherboard.

here is your video card
Newegg.com - XFX PVT72GWANG GeForce 7300GS 512MB(256MB on Board) 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
it should be able to run everything fine. just dont expect it to run fear, half life 2 or anything like that on max settings

here is your ram
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
these are the next generation ram, and cheaper too.

everything else looks fine. conside upgradeing the hard drive.. 200+ gb isnt that expensive anymore. make sure that it is SATA.

AGAIN SHOP AROUND! that price that newegg is charging for XP is a bit expensive. im sure that amazon has it for much less. use pricegrabber.com
zipzoomfly is pretty good. they have free shipping on some items.

internal is for programs

plus costco has a 500 for like 65 bucks
