hello,
BotD requires 6 sockets, and all these weapons have 6 sockets :
1) Berseker Axe (1H) Dmg : 24-71 (Avg 48). Spd = 0. Rng = 3.
2) War Spike (1H) Dmg : 30-48 (Avg 39). Spd = -10. Rng = 2.
3) Phase Blade (1H) Dmg : 31-35 (Avg 33). Spd = -30. Rng = 2.
I cant decide to use Berserker Axe or Phase Blade. Berserker Axe has a damage and range advantage. Phase Blade has the speed advantage.
BotD has an increased 60% IAS. With a higher base attack speed, will the phase blade end up veru much faster than the berserker axe or does the phase blade hit the ceiling? 'cos if it hits the ceiling, then the berserker axe would be worthier. Anybody tested it out before?
btw, how rare is a 6 socket berserker axe or phase blade in Lod? and how rare is a ethereal version of these items? do they need boss or special minions to drop them or are they purely based on luck?

All about luck. And ethereal berserker axe is really hard to find, finding an ethereal superior berserker axe is almost impossible.
About the difference between a phase blade and berserker axe, I would choose berserker axe. Range is important and so is the higher damage.
And if you're going to use Fanatism with BotD berserker axe, you're going to hit the breakpoints.
Paladin using BotD berserker axe, with the 60% IAS, using Zeal and lvl 20 Fanatism, is going to hit 4 frames per attack breakpoints, so further IAS is useless. Same thing with Phase Blade.

i see. yeah, i was going to use zeal with fanaticism, and even an ordinary 0 speed weapon is impossibly fast with the above combo. i was just hoping that using the 60% ias BotD with the -30 phase blade would carve a new attack speed ceiling instead of being limited by it ...
thanks, at least i wont have to wander around and hunt for a superior ethereal 6-socket phase blade ... now i need to hunt for a superior ethereal 6-socket berserker axe ... 
if it's all about luck, i may just find the above weapon when diablo 3 rolls out ... maybe not even then ...

Try hell cows and The Pit. If you find ethereal berserker axe, or even superior ethereal from there, just use the socket quest and you get six sockets to it.
IMO ethereal is good enough, it's much better than normal, and superior ethereal is way more better, but chances of finding one are astronomical.

ok ... i will try not to kill the cow king so i can return ... errm, where is the Pit?
yeah, i forgot about the socket quests. but i do know that i can socket a non-socketed item using the horadic cube.
hahaha ... i do not need to be a mathematician to know the odds of getting something like that. hell, i still have yet to get a Zod rune to the BotD. adding the odds up, diablo 4 would be a near gauge of the completion of my quest ...

I used a 6-sock phase blade to make it and hate it. I wish I would have waited for a 6-sock Colossus Blade. I am using with a HOJ in the other hand and the speed is only as good as the slowest weapon - the same is true for range.
It is curently sitting in my stash and I'm using a HOJ barlog blade and a hoj highland blade.

mmm ... i thought the ethereal property applies to all ordinary items? for armor, it gives a defence boost, and for weapons, it gives a damage boost. the only drawback is that they are non-repairable.
i know all phase blades are indestructable. but does they mean they cant be ethereal? why should it be so?

And its just programmed in the game that phase blades cant be ethereal, can't help it.

What's the max damage on the weapon that they bust out? I think my brother mentioned that it is like, around 1,300. Hmm, I wonder what the max damage they would do with charge would be.

Some people get Fanatism with Charge, instead of Concentration. They do more damage, but they miss more often. And I can't remember the max damage I've seen in BotD thunder maul.

just like you cant get a Eth Grand father.
so it is 100 % shure that if u skt a white or grey item it adds maxe skts , casue couldnt that make you rich fast?
How much is a eth 6 skt zerker worth on usa east non ladder sry if its off topic but it kinda is on topic on this thread?

In case some of you don't know, there also cannot be ethereal bow altogether, just to mention, but it wouldn't hurt being able to have an ethereal windforce  .
