WoW Forums: Kisirani talks about Midsummer Fire Festival changes

In preparation for the upcoming World of Warcraft event, Midsummer Fire Festival, Blizzard poster Kisirani (World Designer) announced a few weeks back that testing on the said event has started. This time, Kisirani explains why some changes were made to the event.

For the uninitiated, Midsummer Fire Festival is much like Brewfest, Hallow's End, and Lunar Festival, among other WoW holidays and is held from June 21 up until July 5. Well, some players questioned the changes that were made to this year's Midsummer Fire Festival (quest lines that didn't make the cut this year and some items), and the blue poster explained:

I'll tell you straight up why the vast majority of the quests then were phased out. First, some relied on level 60 being the cap, which is no longer the case. We could have shifted the fires to 70 areas, but to be honest, the quests at the end of the day just weren't that fun. We're striving to improve the events, and that means sometimes things will end up on the cutting room floor. To be honest, you're not missing much regarding the quests that were removed. ;)

The main mechanics of the event are still present and have been improved upon. There are new quests that involve more entertaining mechanics, and the exploration aspect contained within the old quests as well are still present with the honoring and stamping out of the flames all around the world.

Kisirani added that the main reason for some elements of events getting phased out is that "old content is incongruous with the new."
