PVP Bowa Vs All Guide
#1
Note: This guide was made by ixMike88 from D2PK. I just C/P'd the guide because its very imformative and useful for anyone wanting a decent ZvA guide. Please replace all "D2pk" based gear with mf'able east items (example: Wraithbands with tri-res frw//fhr boots)

ZvA

Background: Bowazons, in my opinion are the most buffed up characters on this realm, this guide will teach you how to use them to your full advantage. This realm allows the rules to be bent for zons the most, they can use two raven frosts, 15% maximum lightning resist and cannot be bone prisoned.

Your friends:
[Image: d2barbariankg7.jpg] - Barbarian, specifically, a leaper.
Amazons for the most part are fragile, as they have from 2k-5k life, with no means of teleport. No matter how you put it most bowazons can't 1v4 a normal team. There's no better protection than a 2 screen leap!
[Image: assassinmq0.jpg] - Assassin
Any trap Assassin will do you good, simple enough, trap protection with mindblast is probably second best.
[Image: necromancerpj6.jpg] - Necromancer
Everybody could use amp [Image: happy.gif].

Your enemies:
[Image: d2barbariankg7.jpg] - Barbarians
Most aren't an issue, just max block ones.
[Image: necromancerpj6.jpg] - Necromancer
Most necros will give zons problems, depending on their skill level. Especially with golem slow or decrepify.

Stat Build:
As you will quickly learn, amazons are probably the most versatile character: item, stat and skill wise.
  • 1. If you want pure damage with little life (about 1800-2000 with a bo, 2.5 with barb bo, you simply shift-click dexterity (after strength requirements).
  • 2. If you want a little bit less damage with about 2.4k life, 2.9 with barb bo, try about 100 vita.
  • 3. Lately, especially with this realm, I find life more useful than damage. I have about 270 vita, enough strength for items and mirror dexterity. This build has about 1800 base life, 3200 with a normal bo and 4700 with a barb bo. However the damage is greatly lower, peaking 5000.
Pros & Cons:
Build 1 Statistics:
  • 1200 life base
  • 1800 life with bo (2500 with barb bo)
  • 6000+ guided arrow damage
  • 9000+ lightning fury damage
Build 2 Statistics:
  • 1600 life base
  • 2400 with bo (3200 with barb bo)
  • 5500 guided arrow damage
  • 7000 lightning fury damage
Build 3 Statistics:
  • 1900 life base
  • 3200 with bo (4700 with barb bo)
  • 5000 guided arrow damage
  • 6000 lightning fury damage
As previously stated, I favor Build 3, because high amounts of life on a bowazon becomes extremely difficult (while requiring a less amount of sticking) to kill and makes things difficult for the opposing team, at the cost of 1500 damage. Note: Damages are not based on the addition of poison damage.

Skill Build:

For ZvA's, there's generally one build, however ranges a few points based on the player. A mixture of passive dodges while upholding the basic critical strike and guided arrow is the goal.

Guided Arrow - 20
Critical Strike - 20
Pierce (and all prereqs) - 1
Decoy (and all prereqs) - 1
Multi Shot - 8
Lightning Fury (and all prereqs) - 1
Dodge - 14
Avoid - 19
Evade - 18

Other Possible Skills:
  • Valkyrie
  • Jab
  • Strafe
The skill build listed above is what I use, and usually ranges a few points between the passives and multishots. The other possible skills are skills that are a reasonable pick but skills I did not find necessary.

Jab - More useful for ZvZing, the chances of you actually running up to somebody and jabbing them in a 4v4 aren't that high.
Valkyrie - Don't really need it, can tank an invisible guided arrow or an invisible bone spirit, but I do not find it worth the work to keep it alive.
Strafe - Same category as Jab, however some Amazons use strafe regularly vs. non block characters (mainly druids). Completely preference.

Most of the skills are self-explanitory, I have a point into decoy because it does also tank a few hits of IBS or IGA and is very effective when druids or barbarians attempt to telestomp you and they manage to pick the wrong one (even with maphack, it happens pretty often).

Fighting Skills:

  • Guided Arrow - Used more for IGAing, or when you're being chased down by a Sorceress or Hammerdin.

  • Multi Shot - Most likely your primary skill, it doesn't make sense to Guided Arrow people when theres 2 or 3 on your screen and you can be hitting them all at the same time.

  • Lightning Fury - Lightning Fury is your primary javelin skill, simple enough.

  • Slow Missile - Let slow missile become your one and only true and reliable friend, as it will help you defeat Necromancers, other Bowazons, Sorceresses, and Druids. If you can manage to get a few Slow Missiles off on a Necromancer or Sorceress who gets too close, the job of you and your team becomes that much easier.

  • Decoy - It's always nice to have a decoy out in front of you to tank a few hits and trick the enemies who telestomp you. Decoy however has no life bar and you are unaware of how much life it has to know when to recast it. Another downfall is that unlike any other summon, it has a duration.
Dueling Specific Classes:
Barbarians - Barbarians are not that great of Amazon-killers, the only Barbarians you should have problems with are max block ones (which are still to an extent pretty fightable). When you see a Barbarian tele on your map going directly for you, switch to your javelins as quick as possible, even if it's a false alarm, it's not worth your life! You automatically have the advantage versus Barbarians in teams as you are prepared with your shield and javelins out and they are forced to come to you. When a Barbarian telestomps you and whirlwinds on top of you simply stand still with your Lightning Fury already ready and simply namelock javelins at him. If he's amped he'll die in maybe 2-5 Javelins, if he's not it may take a little bit longer. The end result is still the same, the Barbarian is dead and you are near full life. Better Barbarians probably won't telestomp a Bowazon and if they do they will quickly realize they need to get out, especially if your teammate(s) are around!

Druids - Dueling Druids can be difficult, but not impossible. Your best friend in this situation is probably Slow Missile, however you have to be risky with this as it does help the enemy Druid when dueling other classes and may cause your teammates to lose unnecessary amounts of life. If you do decide to Slow Missile them your life will become much easier, though unseemingly. When Slow Missiling a Druid it requires a little bit of prediction, the slowing effect of Slow Missile comes at the very end, as you have 0 FCR you want to cast this before they teleport on you and have the Slow Missile end when they are on top of you. Run down. After they are Slow Missiled things become a little bit easier. A Druid may continue to telestomp you over and over or may run back after losing summons. When a Druid telestomps you it is best to run down, this causing the (slowed) nados to not hit you, followed by 1-3 multi shots to kill off his summons, then once you are sure his oak and a few wolves are dead you can Guided Arrow him. As stated, most Druids will run away once they realize they're summons are gone, making this task a little bit more difficult. When dueling Druids in teams it's best to prespam Multishots before and if they telestomp you, their summons will be lost as they are teleporting on you and your allies and yourself is left with the easy work of killing him summon and oakless. When dueling higher skilled Druids they will most likely teleport under you or on the sides, making your life difficult. Chances of losing this battle are higher, but with prediction you may be able to dodge his nados and continue the same sequence of multispam to guided arrow.

Necromancers - Necromancers will probably be your hardest duel, but you may turn out the victor. Again, Slow Missile is your best friend, it dramatically affects the Necro in both 1v1 situations and team duels if they get Slow Missiled, leaving them nearly useless. However they are still quite effective versus a Bowazon. Again, like dueling Druids you have to run down when dueling necros. However instead of using a bow it's best to use your javelins 100% of the fight. Your best bet is to run down while shooting Lightning Furys (after they are Slow Missiled). Dueling in this manner gives you a pretty high chance of winning, but a simple dodge lock may cause the tables to turn and become the end of your life. The lightning will always hit the Necromancer (about 200 lightning damage), but the actual physical damage (the other 5-9k) is blockable and will most of the time be blocked by the Necromancer (assuming he's max block). Necro's tend to die in 2-3 Lightning Fury's when amped. Some Necros however have a point into Decrepify, making your chances of winning near-impossible. Golem Slow is also a factor but not as big, and the chances of a Golem hitting you are not as high as you being namelocked by Decrepify. Dueling Necros in teams its generally favorable to stay on their map to avoid IBS, which is probably the Amazon's biggest problem. You can tell when IBS is coming your way when nothing is near you and you hear or see the dodge animation, or if your decoy takes a hit.

Sorceresses - Sorceresses are generally the easier of the bunch, again, Slow Missile is your friend and would be best versus Sorceresses. When they are on your screen, Guided Arrow is your best option, as it does the most damage and has a less of an animation than Lightning Fury allowing you to move quickly avoiding missiles (when they're not slowed). Most won't do that high of damage to you based on what gear you're wearing. 95% Energy Shield Sorcs (or near) will always be a problem and are near-impossible to kill. Your only chance with that is catching them getting hit by 15 or so arrows by holding a namelock and them not going off of their map. Another way to kill them is them standing there trying to out-tank you. In the end, both methods are not likely.

Assassins - Most Assassins aren't huge deals to duel, trap Assassins have to keep their range in fear of Multi Shot, your problem will be Whirlwind Assassins, the best thing to do is follow the same steps as doing a barb, however may be much more difficult as they are partly poison damage and have claw block. If you are soloing a trapper, it's best to stay up against walls to avoid psychic hammer or mind blast locks, multi spam until their Shadow Master is dead, then you can guided arrow them, as long as you are against a wall. If you see your guided arrows going through them back and forth you are probably desync'd or dodge locked and you are not really shooting server-side.

Paladins - Most Paladins aren't too bad, specifically hammerdins, most attempt to telestomp, be prepared to run down, avoiding the hammer and getting a few guided arrows off. If the hammerdin attempts to come from under you you have room to dodge a hammer and be able to side-step and continue spamming guided arrows. Overall they're not too difficult, some tank rediculously while blocking. Your problems will be hammerdins with grief who charge, smiters and V/T's. Though seemingly impossible to beat these, charge is easily avoidable by staying near walls, leaving them to normal attack. You always want to keep your shield up versus a VT/Smiter/Charger. Generally you can avoid smites by running down, any running will ensure that a smite will probably not hit you. When you're against a wall charge is also ineffective so walls would probably be your best bet. The downfall to Amazons in this fight is Holy Freeze, which is allowed in GM rules. In teams, Paladins will have harder time getting to and successfully killing the Amazon.

Amazons - If you're versing a Bowazon, you can choose to IGA them or remain on their minimap to avoid the gayness. Not much more to say, usually a far-ranged battle. Against CS Amazons, their main goal is to slow missile you in-and-out. Chances are they will probably succeed. If this occurs you just take it in the ass! Lesser skilled CS Amazons will eventually try to jump you, you can avoid their CS's like smites, running downward.

Item Choices:
You want to have enough resists for each element in your game. Stacking resists above 175 is useless unless they have -resist, getting hit by a fireball with 250 resist will deal the same damage as if you were wearing 600 fire resist.

When dueling a blizzer, it's best to go all-out with the 70 CR amulet/circlet, 2 ravens, wraith bands and 30 cr gloves. You can manage without a cold circlet usage or amulet usage. The tanking is both rediculous and silly but it's not fun being 2 hitted!

You generally don't want to use a gaze as you lose speed, life, damage and skills.

Your main amulet is 08 Highlords and main armor is 160/60 to obtain 7 FPS. I rarely use fortitude, it's good for the extra light resist which is legal on bowazons but preference if you want 8 FPS with more damage or 7 FPS with lesser damage. Generally if you're having a problem with resists you should use the 5 FRW/5 Res small charms replacing the 3/20/20s, you also use them when you're taking off circlet, highlords or need to use a hotspur and you need to replace the 30 run/walk. High Run/Walk speed is vital on a Bowazon!

Why Stormshield?
Some Amazons prefer Phoenix for the high amount of damage it outputs. The downfall with phoenix is the higher strength requirements needing you to put more points (and may cause you to pop), and the lack of DR that phoenix provides which helps against Assassins, Barbarians and Paladins.

Why Stygian Pilum?
Stygian Pilum obviously offers the most damage, but requires 125% IAS for the 9 FPS throwing frame, when using a fortitude you will not be able to hit this breakpoint, it is handy to have a copy of these in Matriarchal Javelin form, which offers less damage but has a 89% IAS requirement.

Facts:
  • Slow Missile - The Slow Missile effect only works at the end of the slow missile, meaning the entire animation must complete, when dodge locked or a passive dodge occurs during the casting of a Slow Missile will null the spell.
  • Screen Radius: - Approximately 20 yards.
  • Multiple Shot - 50 (~2.5 screens) yard radius, there is a rumor that bolts have a larger multi shot range than arrows, this is not true. You can control the spray of multishot based on where your cursor is when you shoot, the farther away your cursor is from the Amazon, the smaller spray you will shoot. The closer your cursor is to your Amazon increases the spray of multishot.
  • Guided Arrow - 128 (~6.5 screens) yard radius, IGAs and guided arrows from far away must hit the target directly otherwise has no effect. Tracking of the guided arrow begins where your mouse is held when you shoot the arrow, it is best to keep your cursor near the edges of your screen.
  • Lightning Fury - For some reason some people believe lightning fury is 100% lightning damage, this isn't true. If you look at the character screen your lightning fury damage is enchanted lightning, this is because 200 of the damage is lightning. The 200 lightning damage that lightning fury does is unblockable, remaining damage (6k-8k) is physical damage and is blockable. Both the physical damage and the lightning damage do not have AR, meaning there is a 95% chance to hit the character (before block). Lightning fury is physical damage, lightning bolt is 100% lightning damage.

1) i disagree with the javelins. I think titans would be a better choice for dmg and for the frw(faster run/walk) you really need.
2) i think your best choice would be cats eye amulet for ias/dex/frw
