Hello, new to diablo 2. How can I make a book of town portal to use with the wirt leg???

Are you trying to make a cow level? In that case, you must simply do the following:

1) Complete the difficulty (kill baal) on which you want to make the cow level. For example, if you want to make a cow level in normal, you must at least be in nightmare mood.
2) You must have a Horadric Cube.
3) You must get writ's leg from Tristram by clicking on Writ's body.
4) You must buy a tome of town portals from either Akara or any other NPC.
5) Remain IN the Rouge Encampment (Act 1 town)
6) Put the Tome of Town Portals and Writ's leg in your cube. Make sure they're the only things in there.
7) Hit the Transmute button ().
8) A red portal will open that leads to the secret cow level. Be wary because the cows can be pretty tough.
